90 days PO and Nut wants to increase Carbs to 100 g

I agree with happyteacher about this subject. I am at a higher calorie intake 1,000 and sometimes up to 1200, depending on the day. I do not count carbs, but only count calories and protein, and I have not hit a stall yet. Hoping I will not. I have a medium frame and am 5'4" and do moderate exercise at this point. I am not in the camp of starving my body for a long duration. Everything in moderation right? You have to be careful about being malnourished and getting in what your body needs. It is a delicate balance.
If you trusted your doctor and nutritionist at the beginning enough to have them do your surgery, keep trusting them. At least try it out. I was scared to up the calories too, but found I am still consistently losing 2 to 2.5 pounds a week. Which is a very healthy weight loss. Make some of your goals strictly about health, not just about losing as fast as possible. This is a lifestyle change and you have to learn to set new habits, not just temporary fixes. Otherwise you are headed down the same diet road that we have all traveled for years that never worked. Starving to try and get the weight off. Let this be about nourishing your body and fueling it the best way possible to reach your end goal and to maintain.
Enjoy the journey. I am sure whatever you choose to do, you will do great!

“Not many of us are living at our best. We linger in the lowlands because we are afraid to climb the mountains. The steepness and ruggedness dismay us, and so we stay in the misty valleys and do not learn the mystery of the hills. We do not know what we lose in our self indulgence. What glory awaits us if only we had the courage for the mountain climb. What blessing we should find if only we would move to the uplands of God.? JRM
OK, there are many opinions. I tell people I do a "low-ish carb" food plan, because I pretty strictly limit things that trigger me, and most of those are carby. I don't do recreational sugar ever, but I haven't said that about sugar alcohols yet. Generally speaking, I don't eat wheat, rice, corn or potatoes. I get in trouble with protein bars. I do eat beans, lentils, dairy, some carb-ish veggies (carrots) and some fruits. I target lower than I actually do, and this would be true if my target were 40 or 100, so I keep it at 40 and usually come in around 80. This has been true since about month 4. I am working hard to keep total calories right under 1000.
I have not been a consistent loser since month 7, and though I get frustrated sometimes, overall I have lost well (like, a 5 week stall, then I lost 13 pounds in 4 weeks). We are all different. I avoid carbs not based on a number of grams for weight loss, but for the effect certain carby foods have on me, my appetite, my cravings. Beans and lentils do not cause cravings for me. I am satisfied with a modest portion. Bread and rice cause major, face-clawing cravings.
I want to keep my calories as low as I am comfortable with for as long as possible, because my capacity and appetite have only increased since those heady days immediately after surgery. I want to maximize my weight loss while it is easiest. But I sincerely believe that a committment to following any reasonable plan is effective, IF I am willing to follow it for the long-term. One day at a time. For life. That's what people mean by "maintenance eating." I promise you, I would reach goal weight by eating 1200 calories a day, and 150 g of carbs a day, as long as I was willing to do it for the long term. It might take two years to lose the last 10-20 pounds. But I'd get there.
The question is, will I get discouraged by not losing faster? Will I run out of steam and drift into higher calorie eating? Why did I have surgery in the first place? Sorry! Not exactly an answer to your question, more like random thoughts.

I am almost 3 wks PO. On mushies. I too have been instructed to do 1000 calories a day and no more than 90g carbs. I am so scared that I will not see the results if I do as he instructs. I am trying though! Not only that, so far I am barely getting 600 cals & 40 carbs. If you all are on MFP would you be willing to friend me. I could use some examples. It is hard to imagine getting 1000cals & what a typical day looks like. Thanks.

At three weeks out, it was all I could do to get a shake or two down per day, and some water. I wasn't meeting any of my goals. 1,000 calories would have been out of the question and I didn't hit 1,000 cal/day until I was about 6 months out. At six weeks, I was barely getting in 400 cal/day, but I did have some complications and my recovery wasn't normal.
