HAIR LOSS! Yikes!
Hello all! I could sure use some suggestions/guidance/support.
I was sleeved March 2012, and have lost 68#'s!!! YAY!!! BUT......my hair loss is still happening! It started at 3 months post op and has continued ever since. My hair's volume is sooooo thin, I can't afford to lose more, but it still continues. Here is the issue...I cannot take any kind of protein supplement. Shoots right thru within 10 minutes like grease thru a goose, NOT GOOD. The only way I can get my protein is thru food. And yes, it can be a challenge to get 60+ grams in daily. I take 5000 (mg/iu) of Biotine daily as well as my multi. Has anyone else dealt with this? How? What do I do Any and all help and suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Just now getting to 3 months out and haven't experienced any hair loss yet but am sure it's coming. My Dr. put me on 50mg zin****il this week to help prevent hairloss and speed healing. I had to stop it this week when my labs came back that I was on the high end of the zinc range.
P.S. I had the same problem with protein until I found the Unjury unflavored powder mix. You can go to their website and buy individual sample packs to try. Something about the flavorings in the protein was doing that to me.

There is no magic potion. It stops when it stops. It happens because of the shock of the surgery. It didn't happen to me until month 6. It took so long for it to start happening that I thought that it would not happen. It lasted for months 6-9. It didn't change the health of my hair. It was healthy before the shedding. It is healthy now. It is a temporary nuisance. Feel free to hate it, but know that it is temporary.

This must be a common side effect of our WLS as most seem to experience some amount of hair loss PO.. ME too! I am 3 months PO and I've been shedding already for almost 60 days and have lost 3/4 of my hair volume, they say I won't go completely bald I am not sure of that, my doctor and nut have increased my protein to 100 gr, carbs to 100 gr and calorie to 1000 intake per day. I have a hard time getting that all in every day but just started last week. I also take Biotin10,000 per day. We'll see!

THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE!!! Obviously, I am not alone
I really appreciate the suggestions, and I have to agree with the 5 month statement too, about it being the worst. Good gravy it was crazy! It has JUST started to slow down somewhat....I wonder if it is because so much of it is already gone
I will check on the Unjury powder and give some samples a try. I hope it will grow back?? Can anyone tell me - does the hair grow back? When? At what rate, ie little bit of fuzz starting at month 6 PO or pokey spikes a year PO? And was your new hair, if it does happen, healthy? WOW, everyone here is so awesome, thank you again!
