Low energy, fatigue, vitamins?

I am 3 weeks and 2 days post op today.  Let me preface by saying I DID speak to my doctor yesterday about this.  I am very low energy (he asked if I was excercising) I could have laughed. I haven't had the energy to do the dishes that have been in my sink for a few days now.  I am a single mom of two kids and I have been able to muster the energy to feed and bathe them and that's about it for the past week or so.

They have me on a multi vitamin and an iron.  He said my BP is good and so I am not losing blood or anemic so that's good.  I was just wondering if maybe I should be on B12 as well?  I also will be buying more vitamin D as I usually take that too even prior to surgery.

I also feel a bit anxious sometimes when I wake up. I am nauseous every morning and have been taking a nausea med so that I can at least try to get a shake in.  For the past couple days I have been getting my full 60+ of protein.

I have been getting my fluids in and I am urinating about 3-4 times a day so I don't think I am dehydrated. Urine is light in color.

Thoughts? The doc basically said it's normal because I am healing. Is that all this is?  I have honestly never felt this bad in my life (aside from the flu which would be much worse).

I don't have an answer for you but I'm in the same boat. I will be 3 wks out tomorrow and am VERY tired throughout the day. I am able to exercise but I nap every day for an hour. My kids are at school. I was just looking at my laundry pile hoping to tackle that today instead of walking. I am started my vitamins today. I can ge****er down but am struggling with protein. You are not alone! Maybe it's normal at this point???

I think I really didn't start to perk up until around 8 weeks out. I was exhausted pretty much all the time. Stay kind to yourself right now and yes, you should probably be on a B12 if your doc has that as your list of vitamins. I was taking one daily until we saw my levels went way off the charts, now it's twice per week.

I haven't gotten to my 3 week mark yet, but remember, your body is use to much more calories a day. 1 calorie = 1 unit of energy

Your body is probably lagging because it's use to having much more sustinance.

What I do for energy is, Phosphatidyl Serine and GABA, both can be bought at www.sourcenaturals.com and I think there is a bottle that has them both together, so you only need 1 purchase. And, I also take Carlson's Fish Oil www.swansonvitamins.com has the best price usually. That ups my energy quite a bit as well.

Yes, you need B12. I was told in the hospital that this is necessary for the rest of my life.

Sending energy waves your way!!!

I've felt this way too, I'm a few days longer than you and yes, you should take your B12. It is because your body is healing and you need lots of rest in between. It'll get better, from what all the vets tell me. LOL. Feel better!!

Definitely start a sublingual or liquid B12. It affects energy and the nervous system.

Thanks so much everyone. I picked up some sublingual B12 last night as Sam's.  It's not on my list of vitamins which is why I wondered.  I feel that my doctor is a bit liberal in the nutrition, vitamin dept.  I also know he doesn't mind if I am taking it. I have usually been on the low end for B12 - I used to get injections so you would think he would have put me on it.
