I was told to stop but have heard some still let you due to quality of life issues. It is a short surgery you are most likely ambulatory soon after the procedure if you don't smoke and haven't ever the risks are much less. I am not dispensing medical advice, but from what other doctors have said some force you to stop some will let you continue if you're not high risk.

I did and wasn't happy about it but i looked it up and most surgeons are requiring it before surgery these days, fear of blood clots. i had to stop one month before, one after.

Has anyone heard anything about the IUD birth control needing to be taken out before surgery? I'll bring it up with my doctor too but didn't know if you guys knew. My surgery is in 3 weeks. Thanks in advance.

I just met with my surgeon and she mentioned the same thing, 30 days out before and after. I am on the nuvaring. She said it has to do with the type of birth control and the estrogen. My friend has an IUD and they didnt make her take it out, same surgeon.
