I know what I need in terms of protien shakes, ice pops, water, jello.  what do I need for the hospital and for when I get home? What did you actually use at the hospital? what kind of shoes ect.
I'm sorry if this might be gross but someone even suggested getting something to assist in wiping in the bathroom? lol
thanks!!

I found a small digital timer extremely useful at home--like you use for cooking.  To time how long it has been since I've eaten (so I can drink), etc.

I was only in the hospital for one day. I wore loose comfy clothes there and the same ones home. Other than that I brought chapstick, biotine mouth spray, my phone, charger, my kindle and pads. That was it. I used two gowns to walk the halls and their grippy socks. I was glad. Oh, I did have hubby bring me my pillow because theirs were too squishy

Oh, and a toothbrush, toothpatse and hairbrush. That was it.

Home... just look at your doc's 2 week list and go from there. xoxo

Thought I would chime in since I just went through this last week. I had brought my tablet and a robe and slippers with me to the hospital. But honestly, I didn't use much of it because I was tired and could really care less of what I looked like. I had the hospital's socks on and they gave me an extra gown to wear as a coat as I walked the halls. For me the days went by so fast, I didn't have time to feel bored.

When I got home, my husband made sure there were clean sheets on the bed and the house was clean. I had plenty of small cups and shot glasses for drinks.

AS for the bathroom, I did find it a little cumbersome to clean back there with the drain still attached and even after that with the gauze and tape all over you.

Good Luck!

I took slip on Crocs for walking the halls, tank tops and Capri bottom jammies, knickers, robe, toothbrush and paste, shampoo and hairbrush, stuffy, iPhone, iPad and charger. I really didn't need anything else. (ok, I also took knitting, but I didn't DO any)

As to the bathroom part - all I can say is nothing in, nothing out. Also, I don't think I'd have had any trouble anyway. Other than gas pain and some nausea I was fine. Very tired, but really just fine.

I wore TO the hospital: yoga pants, a comfy top and a cardi. I wore the same outfit leaving.

I had a drain and people needed to be able to deal with that and check my incisions. I'd have been mortified if I'd been wearing their gown or my regular nightie.

All great ideas but I also took some MIO to add to my water I was drinking to give it more flavor. ALSO - and this is very important for the first couple of weeks out of surgey - NEVER TRUST A FART!  Best advice I got and was so glad I listened to it!

Did your doctor not give you a list?  If not, I'd be happy to share what mine gave me.

I wore sweats  to the hospital and flp flops.  brang the most comfortable pair of pajamas to wear for after surgery ,  changed into them within an hour after surgery.   toothbrush and brush,  mouth spray, chapstick.   one thing i wish I would of had is my lap top or kindle  or even a book .  I had my cell phone but not the same trying to read on a little itty bitty screen.  I was one of those peopel that really didnt sleep after surgery,  I was wide awake the nurses said some people get that reaction from all the different meds and there was only so many times i could walk around the nurses station I was bored outta my mind.... also my room didnt have  a tv in which they didnt tell me .......  I had no problems in the bathroom area or even getting around ,  I felt really good .
