I'm being put on a 2 week liquid protein diet. Minumum of 5 protein shakes a day along with other clear liquids, SF jello & SF popsicles. I'm nervous!

I'm on day two of my pre-op diet. I am to have 2 shakes a day of a specific brand of powder sold only at the surgeon's office (like they need more money). I am also allowed a small "sensible" meal. This is for two weeks. The day before is liquid only, nothing after midnight.
I'm just trying to make the shakes more palatable.

Mine is 2 weeks of high protein, low carb foods to shrink the liver. Two days of clear liquids leading up to surgery. Milk of Magnesia the day before surgery and Neomycin tablets every 4 hrs for the 24 hrs before surgery. I think the reason for the Neomycin is that even though the doctor does not go into the bowel, accidental lacerations could occur and the Neomycin wipes out the gut bacteria that could cause peritonitis. Or if you were one of the unfortunate ones to have an early leak, the Neomycin would hopefully wipe out the bacteria that could cause a peritonitis.
I do not have a problem with the liquids only, I do have issues with the surgery centers *****quire you to buy your protein shakes through them. Dr. Alvarez in Mexico is very conservative with a great deal of his process, including the pre-op diet, and I liked that about him. For me, Aceves and Alvarez were very close options, but I chose Alvarez cause I liked the conservative nature of his style, and I talked to some of his patients here and online and I did not meet a single person with anything bad to say about the experience or the doctor. Travel was easier to Alvarez for me as well.
I am starting my Pre-Op Diet next week, and the doc said he was OK with any shakes I want to use, as long as they stay within the calorie (under 1000), protein (70g min) and carb (under 60) requirements. I am working with a NUT to tweak my program for me.

I have no pre-op diet either. My doctor states there is no medical data behind it. I will need to eat a light dinner the night before and nothing after 10 pm. I was told not to go overboard though, haha. I've lost 21 pounds over the summer and another 2 this last week. I feel I'm having food funerals but also being sensible. Luckily I'm still eating well and doing my Jazzercise to get ready. 13 days away! Yay. Good luck everyone!
