Around 300lbs, how much did you lose?

I am wondering how much I can expect to lose within 3, 6, 9 months and 1 year. I have seen a lot of people on here with their starting weights either much higher or much lower, but I'd love to hear from someone in my range to get a good idea about what I can expect.

I have been doing the pre-op diet for a month now and already lost 25 lbs, and I tend to lose very fast. I am really having difficulty figuring out how I will get 64oz of water in, since I was a diet coke- aholic, and NEVER drink water. But I am getting used to crystal lite, so that's an option. I am also not athletic at all and have a VERY busy life, so working out might be a bit sporatic. I am just hoping it will get easier and easier to work out as I lose weight and I will become motivated from that.

I am hoping for a surgery date in the new year sometime. (My Dr wanted me to lose %10 of my body weight or "you shouldn't even bother coming back". LOL)

I am nearly there ALREADY, so there. haha

So, any word from someone in that range, would be fantastic!!!

I was 319 as well (I don't know if that's a common starting weight or if I just notice all the people who started at that weight).

I bounce between 139 and 141, which would be 178 - 180 lbs lost. This morning I was 139.0 exactly.

Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22

175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012

Hi,
I was 314 last August and 293 at surgery date in February this year.  I'm 231 as of last week and I am what some might call a "slow loser" but I'm just me.  I had a couple blips along the way that curtailed my exercise and will be off my feet for 8 weeks now that I've torn my achilles.  (lesson is remember to stretch even when you're feeling great and light on your toes)  I also have to remember that for me - this wasn't about vanity or being a certain size.  For me, this was about getting off most of the many medications I was taking and today I'm off all of them!  So if I never lose another pound (and I know that I will lose more) this will have been a success.  I'm not saying it's easy to remember that but I keep reminding myself so that I don't get caught up in comparing my weight loss to anyone else.  It was the right decision for me.  It has been successful and will continue to be as long as I'm paying attention to what I'm eating and doing.
GOOD LUCK!!!!

Why would your doctor tell you to lose 10 percent or don't come back?  What was the point of that?  Sounds rude

My doctor isn't that rude, but I was told I need to lose 10% or they won't do the surgery. Seems they had a patient end up in ICU and when they had a meeting to try to figure out how to avoid the same situation, they came to the conclusion that it was because the patient did not lose any weight preop. (I'm thinking maybe it was a liver issue?)  Anyway, I'm in trouble because I meet with the dietician in a little over a week for the last time and have only lost 5 lbs (supposed to lose 18). So possibly the doctor will telll me I can't have the surgery yet. I'm trying...I'M TRYING!  ;)

The day of surgery I was 283...I am now 9 months out and at my goal weight of 150, I only had to do clear liquids two days pre-op so my weight loss journey didn't start until the day of surgery because most of what I lost the 2 days before was fluid

There are a lot of factors that go into how much weight you can lose and should lose. Height, gender, metabolism, etc. etc.

I also started at 319 lbs. I lost about 10 pounds before my pre-surgery liquid diet. I lost another 15 lbs. during the two weeks of the diet. I had surgery Aug. 7. Since then, in six weeks, I've lost about 25 lbs.

I was 280 preop diet then 259 on surgery day and will say I lost MUCH faster on the pre op diet than I am losing now. I have lost about 20-21 pounds in 5 weeks since surgery. I lost 20 pounds in two weeks on the pre op diet.  I am still confident this is a long term solution, so slow is ok with me but it is a little discouraging at first.

The fast first 10-12 lbs is mostly water weight from depleting glycogen (4lbs water for every lb of glycogen.. we store 2-3lbs glycogen in our muscles and esp in the liver.. so that's what the pre-op liver shrinking diet is about..)

The weight loss after that initial drop is going to slow, and you may even stall and gain a lb or so, as your body will fight to add back some of that store of quick energy, don't fret, it's jus****er.. keep on with what you are doing.. it's working. Here's a great explainer I borrowed from a friend who used to post a lot on the other forums here:
