1 year out tomorrow

I can't believe last year at this time I was freaking out and driving my poor husband crazy with all my fears.  i had been on a liquid diet for 3 weeks prior to surgery (ok, ok- i cheated a few times, but for the most part followed it!).  I remember days 2-5 post op really, really sucking.  After the first 3 weeks I was getting some more energy back, but i felt like i was recovering much slower than others on this site who were bouncing back to work after a week of rest.  i wondered if i could do it, or if the surgery wouldn't work for me.  i was terrified when i went in that i wouldn't wake up afterwards.

my surgery was NOT uneventful- had a gastric artery knicked which resulted in a 1% splenic infarct (which is basically blood loss to my spleen but did not affect anything and will not in the future).  i went back into the ER 2 weeks out for severe dehydration because i could only get down 16 oz. a day.

but i look at where i was, and where i am.  i look at the confidence i have now and really feel like THIS is the real me.  i was here all along and just needed the help to come out.  i am so very thankful for my surgeon and the surgery and wish i would have done it years ago.  I'm down 114 pounds and over 60 inches.  From a size 24-26 to a size 10/12.  Yes, I have some disgusting loose skin and may consider PS in the future, at least for my arms, but am in no hurry.  I am Celebrating my year surgiversary this month by starting to try again to get pregnant.  I love life and feel so lucky to have found OH for the guidance and support that was so necessary to help me through.

thank you for the support everyone- will definitely update the pregnancy news.  we did several years with a fertility specialist pre op unsuccessfully so i'm hoping that the surgery helped (was listed as unexplained infertility) and we won't have to go back there!
