I have pizza maybe 1x a month-since hitting goal in Feb.
A small slice, usually the cheese and leave the crust. Last weekend I ate a small slice w the crust and did not die! I planned it out and stayed on top of my other choices.

I have had commercial pizza maybe three times since hitting goal at the first of the year with no particular distress. During loss we would sometimes make pizza using a thin corn tortilla as a crust, and a couple of times had a frozen Paul Newmans thincrust pizza that actually has a decent nutritional profile for pizza (on the order of 1/3 of the pizza is 320 calories and 14g protein - not most protein dense thing in the world, but not bad for pizza and workable in most plans if desired - that was usually split into two pieces, having one for lunch and one for a snack)

I absolutely loved pizza prior to surgery and also garlic knots....perfect meal..LOL...

Now ehhh...I really don't crave it anymore...and though it smells delightful still, I know that the dough just sits like a rock in my belly and I don't care for that feeling....

I still generally avoid bread, pasta, pizza, stuff like that, ..since really I don't get to eat enough for it to be satisfying...but if I really want something, I can have a few bites no problem...

However, I agree with the other poster about Newman's thin crust....I get the supreme and sometimes will have a whole piece...the thin crust is so much better for me now, even though I used to love thick crust.

Anyhow...yes, eventually, you will be able to eat whatever you want again...that is both good and bad because it becomes more enjoyable to eat, but more easy to gain back weight...

Head hunger is a pain...sometimes I just want to eat mostly from boredom.....I know that I'm not physically hungry but that doesn't stop the desire for food....sometimes I give in...sometimes I distract myself with something else besides food...this is definitely a long term issue...

As far as carbs go...I don't believe they are awful or bad and have never eliminated them...if you are eating complex carbs/natural carbs such as sweet potatoes, apples, bananas, veggies, etc...my only main rule is make sure I'm getting sufficient protein first.

Good luck!

I can see myself eventually having some - I think, but I fret about the bread. Not the carbs, since I know that I could fit the carbs of 1 small slice into my day even now, but the soft, moist bread bit. I can eat whole grain bread if it's toasted (usually only 1/2 slice, but it's wonderful!) but find untoasted bread sits pretty much like a brick.

If it's the flavour and social time you're craving, what about just eating the toppings? If it's just the flavour, what about putting pizza sauce on Wasa or 1/2 a toasted skinny bun or a small pita or a small, crisped whole grain tortilla, adding your favourite toppings and slipping it under the broiler for a few minutes? You could also mix your toppings, shredded mozzarella and pizza sauce, fold it inside a small whole grain tortilla and dry fry it until crisp on the outside, steamy, melty, yummy on the inside. Ok, that sounds really yummy. I wonder if we have any mozzarella?

Now that I am at goal and have been for a while, I don't eliminate any food.  I have had maybe 2-3 slices of pizza in the past year or so, but if I am in Italy or at some famous pizza place and the pizza calls to me, I will eat it.  I would not have done so during weight loss and early maintenance.

The straight answer is that you maybe hold off and get to goal before using the word Pizza......

Even now in Maintenance I will eat Pizza in a "Special way....... If I eat a slice of restaurant pizza.....I will eat the topping and about 1/3 of the bread...... no issues and satisfying......

This is Pizza made with Lavash Flat Bread....... this is the best !!!! If your a thin crust fan......(like I am) this is not even a diet food..... everyone I have made it for says....."Top Notch Gourmet"

This serving will have about 7-9 carbs...... so it would be questionable if it fits into your program......I ate it a few times during WL but a smaller portion....about half of what you see here......

Well, right now pizza is not on my radar for dinner, only 3 weeks post-op. However, DH has been sleeved since December, so I have been making homemade pizza using flat-out flat bread as the crust. He can only eat 1/2 to 3/4 of the individual pizza. I use Trader Joe's jarred pizza sauce or jarred pesto. I then top it with whatever sounds good. I've used shrimp, chicken, no nitrate pepperoni, no nitrate Canadian bacon, veggies...you get the idea. A couple of weeks ago, DH made one with BBQ sauce, chicken, and onions. I was still on liquids so I couldn't taste it, but it smelled wonderful. DH is now in maintenance so he can eat BBQ sauce.

Oh, gotta love that Frisco food porn.

A few weeks after my surgery, it was pizza night in my house, and I cried real tears that I couldn't have it.  Ridiculous.  I realized that what I really was missing was the experience and not the actual food.  I'm almost three months out now and doing well with the weight loss.    I don't really crave foods at all any more.  I've had pizza, but 2-3 bites is plenty for me.   I've become one of those people I hated that can take a bite or two of pizza or cake or whatever, and leave the rest.  There will be a new normal for you, and it will be what you make of it.

I ate pizza a couple times when I was in Italy last summer - how could I not, right?  And last January I was in a group of 14 people who wanted to go get pizza, so I went and had a great time.  I ate the tops off several slices.

BUT, when I want pizza at home, I make this, with pepperoni - I STRONGLY recommend it, it's really wonderful:
