I was craving crunchy, vegetabley brussels sprouts steamed, and with some garlic and a dab of butter.  So sue me.

I steamed them heated a bit of butter, rolled them around in it, seasoned, ate. Yum.

Okay, I just went to put them in on mfp and to my astonishment--they have protein???

They appear, per sprout, to have 8 calories, 1 carb, 1 protein, 1 fiber, 1 iron, so my 8 sprouts was 64 calories and 8 protein?

If you separate the leaves and roast them (with a little olive oil) they get all carmelized and crispy, like little chips!

You are torturing a gal who is mourning her food right now! I am sipping like crazy because of the UTI and my tongue feels like leather, I am craving something salty, tasty and chewy:(
These are the first days of the rest of my life. I feel like i have gone through a rebirth, with a second chance for a new life to live and a new me to treasure! I will remain on the losers bench for the rest of my  healthier life!

That fibre is worth noticing, too, considering how many of us have issues with constipation. I track water, protein, calories and fibre. If those are on track I don't worry a whole lot about other carbs.

One of my current favourite snacks is a 35 calorie serving of sf yogurt with 1/2 serving of All Bran mixed in. It might sound weird, but I tell you it's yummy, and my innards are VERY happy about the fibre!

This made my day lol I would have never thought brussle sprouts had a lot of protein! I'm pre op still and I love them too. The roasting the leaves idea sounds AMAZING! I have to try that soon! Thanks for this topic- now I know what I'm buying at the vegetable market this week!
