"Take it on an empty stomach."
I, personally, would wait an hour after eating. I can usually tell if I still have food in my tummy, even after waiting 45 minutes to drink, I sometimes can feel food in there. So usually I am good after an hour, depends on what I eat, but that is usually the case for me.

“Not many of us are living at our best. We linger in the lowlands because we are afraid to climb the mountains. The steepness and ruggedness dismay us, and so we stay in the misty valleys and do not learn the mystery of the hills. We do not know what we lose in our self indulgence. What glory awaits us if only we had the courage for the mountain climb. What blessing we should find if only we would move to the uplands of God.? JRM
I think your best bet is to do the "on an empty stomach" thing prior to eating. Depending on what I eat, I can feel "full" for a couple of hours. I find that the hour or so before I eat a meal is when my stomach is truly empty - then and in the morning before 10 am since I only "drink" my food prior to 10.
I can't seem to tell when I'm hungry. The only time I actually believe I feel hungry is 8 or 9 at night. Then I usually have a real fruit popsicle which tides me over.
I've been told to wait about an hour after I eat to start drinking again. And, to wait an hour after I drink to eat. So, I'm assuming it takes about an hour to "flush" 2 - 4 tablespoons of food out.
