I think the problem with Rogaine (esp w/ women) is that it can increase hair growth in places you may not want it.  Hair falls out because new growth is generating after a period of stress when the body is utilizing nutrients for things other then growing hair(ie -healing from surgery, injury, pregnancy). I don't think you can make it happen any faster than your body is capable of doing it.  From what I read, Biotin can help the quality of new growth but can't stop hair from falling out.

I feel your pain. I too have lost a lot of hair. It is so thin now. I hate to wash and style it because it never looks good. My texture is now dry too. I am 9 months out and the loss is not too much now and I am having regrowth but it is going to take a long time if ever to be the same. I wear my hair in a shoulder length bob and I think I am soon going to have to cut it short because the last few inches are so wispy. You know it's bad when your grandmother says " is there something you can do to make your hair look better?" I now wear it up in a clip most of the time. So I too am very bummed about the hair thing but loving the skinnier self.

My hair fell out at one month, and grew back at 4 months.  No problems since.
