Dumb question, does ur skin absorb extra water in the shower

I know the obvious answer is yes, but my question is more about any relative gain. Every morning, before step into the shower, I weigh myself. Then when I get out, I weigh myself again (scale addiction). It never fails that I've gone up almost 8 tenths of a pound every time. When I complained this morning, my hubby said it's bc my skin absorbs water in the shower. It makes sense, but could I really be absorbing almost a pound of water in every shower? Hmmmmmm........

I do think that the skin does absorbs water from the shower/bath. I have noticed that when I take my shower that my bladder gets some what full from the shower, but when I go swim in a swimming pool for about 20 minutes to 30 minutes, my empty bladder becomes full. Go figure.

Yes you do absorb water through your skin,  just as you lose it.   When you take baths your hands and feet become waterlogged if you stay long enough,  doesn't happen as quickly in the shower but it does.

Yes, of course skin absorbs water. That's why we use moisturizer to keep our skin hydrated!

Plus, wet hair weighs a lot more than dry hair!

I don't have wet hair usually so that's not the culprit. But yeah I guess my skin is one big old sponge ...glad it eventually evaporates!

if you swim in sal****er you will lose water, but a gal. of water weighs 8 lbs , so you would need to absorb almost a pint

thats alot unless your hair is very wet

I've noticed the same thing.  Post-shower gain of nearly a pound (even after drying and vigorously towelling my short hair!)

I've never had that happen.

I tried it today just to be sure.
