NSV--I took a ballet class!

About a zillion years (and pounds) ago, I was a dancer.  Started in 2nd grade, continued up until high school, when we moved across the country.  I continued to dance all the way through college, but the intensity and level of training wasn't the same as before.

Anyhow.

One of my goals was to take a ballet class again.  There is a "ballet fitness" class at my daughter's dance studio and I figured I'd try it out eventually.  I was originally thinking I'd wait until I lost some more weight but I've been working out a lot so I figured I'd take a class and see how it went.

I DIDN'T DIE!!!!  I am still over 200 lbs and did the entire class just as well as the skinny woman who has been there since November.

Really, other than the jumps, it was not bad at all.  The barre exercises came back to me, my balance is still good, and my flexibility is still good.

I plan to attend as often as I can (it meets once a week, but I already know I can't go next week) as a way to get in more stretching and mix up my routine on what is usually a "no exercise" day.  Can't wait to go to a dance supply store and buy myself some slippers.  Should make for an interesting day for the employees!

That sounds great.  I'm an ex-ballerina as well and would love to take a class sometime.  I'm happy it all came back for you.  You probably never lost your turn-outs.  I still walk around with my toes pointed outward like a duck all the time.  congrats on the class!  keep that chin and elbows up!

WAY to GO!!! All I want to do this year is learn to Slow Dance!!! I never have!!! WOW!! I never thought of taking ballet or jazz - that would blow my granddaughters' minds!! Not to mention mine!!! And my SON would die of embarrassment if I attempted to put on a tutu like his girls wear - LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!

Boy am I having FUN thinking about this new way of exercising now - AFTER getting my back fixed!!!

THANK YOU for these new ideas!!! SWEET!!! I love the SHOCK factor for my Son that will soon be 35 yrs old and is a sheriff's deputy - I usually get him really good while he's on duty and around a bunch of his co-workers!!! I love it!! He bout dies!!! Ain't that why we had the kids first instead of the grandkids???

Ann - 4 months out on the 21st of March - 1/2 way to MY Goal !!!!
