Super-mega-newbie
We live in Central Missouri, and I'm going to the Bariatric Center at the U of Missouri for my surgery. Very excited!
I'm 65 years old, and the only way I can get this done is because I'm on Medicare now. So I've been carrying this lard around for more than 50 years, a staggering admission!
Ok, just wanted to say HowDEE, and I'll try to make one of those little timeline things with text characters, LOL.

I was sleeved 2 days after my 66th birthday. We both sound the same. I was 275 and been 240 or above for 40 years. I am 4 months out and down 63 lbs. it is going slow for me now. I am 212 lbs right now and can not ever being this weight. After the birth of my oldest son I went from 190 to 240 . Guess I did not have a scale in those years.
Welcome Angie,
I'm 64 and I'm having my surgery on May 1st. I've been carrying my excess weight for a long time, as well. I got to the point where my mobility was so limited and the future was looking bleak. So in January I started the process. I was told I had to lose 50 punds before surgery and I didn't think I could do it. I never thought I'd get down below 350 again, and I'm now at 334. I feel so hopeful.. I know this is the right decision for me. I wish I had done it years ago.
Its good to know there are others my age going through this process. I look forward to hearing your success story.
best wishes,
Carol in Massachusetts

Hi- Wishing you all the best. I am 61 and just had my surgery on 4/11. I cannot believe how well my recovery is going and how much energy I have. I lost 30 lbs in the six months leading up to my surgery, including 10 the last week on a liquid diet. I was always pretty fearful of the procedure, but am finding that it is actually pretty easy. At our age, we have had more surgeries and know what real pain is, so after knee replacements, this is a piece of cake. I know that the weight loss is what I need to help my joints be healthy and happy!
You guys are the best! Having support makes a *HYOOOOJ* difference, and y'all are making me feel all empowered
How do y'all get that nice weight loss ticker thing? Thanks!
