Had my surgery in January and I continue to hit stalls every few weeks but what I notice in between is that my close feel looser so it seems that during these "stalls" i'm losing inches and then the scale changes. does that make sense? is it / has it been like that for you?

It works if you work it; it sorta works if you sorta work it; and it doesn't work if you don't work it.

Yes.  Absolutely.  When you stall your body is saying ... "hey, there is a lot going on and I am loosing weight fast.  Let's stop for a second and redistribute the weight so that things make sense again."  So you loose inches and not pounds.

I have said it many times that stalls shouldn't be this time when you are thinking about the bad times and that you aren't loosing weight. Embrace the stalls as that is when you loose the inches.

Thats the typical pattern.

Stalls are your body's way of saying "Whoa Nelly - I need time to catch up".  The scale doesn't move but your body is busy rearranging the furniture.  Then the scale moves again and the cycle continues.

Some people stall more, some less.  The weight loss we go through is an intensely complicated process. A lot of the behavior is driven by our own unique biochemistry.  No one can really say what anyone else is going to experience.  There have been some people on here who never stall and others who stall every few pounds.  Some last days and some last weeks.

The trick to stalls, is to not let the emotional toll of them defeat you mentally and drive you off track.  Use your knowledge and understanding to remind yourself that "this too shall pass".  Don't give in to the temptation to follow some magic cure to break the stall.  Stick to your program and the stall will break in its own time.

You can't worry about it. You MUST have done your due diligence and read up on all of this stuff. You KNOW that mathematically, you will lose weight. Don't twist your emotions and brain up over this. There are much more important things, like following your food and exercise plan. That's all you have to do.
