My question is do we rely solely on the staples to hold our stomach together? does it not heal like any other incision our cut we get????

No,we are not relying only on the staples and yes,the edges of the stomach do grow back together just like any other injury. The stomach also forms scar tissue over the staples which makes a very tight bond.

So I'm not crazy I didn't think we relied on the staples. So why do people talk about popping a staple and getting a leak. I'm just under 5 months post OP and was told I'm out of danger of getting a leak much earlier on because I'm healed.
that story makes no sense.

I'm skeptical... I know anatomy, I know a leak, I know GERD!

I know people self diagnosing!

I've heard of a staple line rupturing because of a car accident! That's why they gained their weight back! Yup! That's what was said! And yes they did!

Yes, I've live the life of a leaky sleeve survivor and yes I have over eaten my sleeve by times and no, it didn't cause a leak again.. I think something else has caused this! But, I ain't no doctor to diagnose!
