Meeting with surgeon didn't go well
Agreed. If you are even thinking, "hey this guy might not be the right surgeon for me" you owe it to yourself to check out another surgical center. I wouldn't hesitate, particularly since this is relatively early in your process. The decision you are making is life-long... make sure it's 100% what you want.
I agree. Find another surgeon. I went to one center, didnt like how pushy they were even though they agreed with VSG for me. I found a new center. I am approved and scheduled for surgery already, but I dont meet my surgeon until this afternoon. I have my fingers crossed I like him
There are three highly regarded hospitals 10 miles from where I live. I chose this surgeon b/c he did my stepfathers RNY and his practice is rated as a center of excellence. But, he's 66 and about to retire so it seems his thinking is kind of "old school." I have a friend who had the sleeve at a different hospital in the area so I just faxed through my paper work and will wait for an appointment at their office.
"and his practice is rated as a center of excellence"
All this means is that they've met some minimum qualifications. It doesn't actually mean they are excellent.

Trust your gut (no pun intended) on this one. Find a different doc. You are going to have to have a RELATIONSHIP with this person for years to come. Make sure it's a good fit.
The good news is that when I switched docs a little over a week ago, there was only one prereq I had to meet for the new doc that the old one didn't require. All of the other stuff I had done transferred beautifully, and they were delighted to have a new patient so ready to go.
Good luck!!!
