Can the stomach restrectch out after VSG or is it a myth? Oh and hair still falling out!
I'm just wondering you have started to regain weight after having the sleeve after a period of time, is it from over eating or is it eating bad foods? I'm just asking this because I'm afraid of this happening to me in the future. I'm 7 months out and still loosing. If I eat 1 bite too many I feel awful so I find it hard to over eat like I use to. So I'm thinking the stomach shouldn't stretch out. On the other hand I can eat garbage food instead of healthy food and still not feel full. I'm just looking for feedback on this. Is it a myth about the stomach stretching out? Oh and I'm still loosing hair. I thought this was supposed to stop after 6 months. My protein is good and I'm taking mega doses of biotin. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks
It is a paradox of this surgery that if we stick with protein and vegetables, we experience excellent restriction on an ongoing basis, but if we get into carbs and sugar, or peanut butter and sunflower seeds (which is what I did for a while), we can eat far more than we might have thought (which is why these are called "slider" foods, they slide right through). I think this is where some people think their sleeve may have expanded. Sticking with the basics keeps the restriction right where you want it.
Regarding the hair, my hair about half fell out, I was in pretty bad shape there for a while. But it has all come back, and I swear I have more than I did pre-op (I was losing a little bit even before surgery). Hair abides, have patience.
the sleeve takes up to 6 months to heal and till all the swelling goes down so after that time it is larger than at the beginning
you can stretch the sleeve if you overeat all the time but it will not get as big as a pre surgery stomach, the stretchy part is the part removed , most people regain or don't lose because they eat the wrong foods , you can shovel ice cream in all day if you are dumb enough to do it
if you follow a good plan and stick to it 95% of the time you will lose if you don't talk to your nut about changing plans
As for me I was always able to eat far more than any sleeve person I have ever encountered. There are people 2-5 years out who I have met who cannot even get in 1/2 of what I can. I think everyone's body is different. I may not have experienced any swelling after surgery and possibly this played a role. I know when I was out of surgery I had no drain, no cath, no breathing tube ....nothing. I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not. I have no clue. But, I lost 165 pounds and gained 62 lbs back in the course of 4 or 5 months. However, it had nothing to do with my sleeve or its size. It had everything to do with me and the choices I was making. I have since returned to following the nutritional plan of a sleeve patient and I am seeing results and losing some of that regain and I am even feeling a little more restriction. As long as we stick to what we are supposed to be doing we will be fine.
Re-gain can be from a MYRIAD of reasons...not just from the CHRONIC... CRAP CARB CREEP alone....medications, injury, stress/emotion, hormonal changes, childbirth, insomnia, illness/disease, boozin it up, .....strikin that delicate balance intake/output involves alot more than processed flour n sugar intake lol
People often mistake a MATURED sleeve by 1 year out...for a STRETCHED OUT SLEEVE...lmao nothin could be further from the truth! Yes...our sleeves DO STRETCH/DILATE naturally..INITIALLY!!...from 2 day post op ...a shot of protein supp may feel restrictive, thru mushies, then 1/2 oz of lean protein may fill ya up..we can do a couplea oz of lean dense protein by 6 months out... Yer done cookin! Its the same for ALL of us...tighter than **** smallest bougie...or liberally loose 48F (the largest) used.
Our weight has nothing to do with the size of our stomach...altered or not. Some more info on BOUGIES in VSG blog...
As you found out..eating crap goes in easily...ya eat more...why would you do that? thru the rapid fat loss phase? GET IT TOGETHA!! woman! lmao... Stay away from old BTDT fails!! that CHRONIC crap... No better time whiles ya got this surgical restriction on YOUR SIDE...to maximize your rapid fat loss phase. I didn't ...hindsight is 20/20 right! just means it took me longer is all. Somebody shoot me! lol
On VSG induced hormonal hair loss phase a timeline
Hair Loss BEGINS 3-4 months post op
Hair Loss SLOWS 6-7 months post op (new growth apparent)
Hair Loss STOPS 12- 18 months post op (or when your weight loss stabilizes)
~6-7 months post op hair no longer coming out by the root...but BREAKING off.

Biotin is fine for regrowth stage like you are..it "seemed" to help retain natural oils ..won't do **** preventative ...
your prolly gettin a ****load of biotin thru your diet and multi...do you eat eggs? ..heads up can be toxic in dosages 10,000 mcg daily.
Take care of YOU...this too shall pass...get in your grunt work NOW!! you'll be glad ya did later
