It isn't destined but if you had it before surgery , chances you will have it worse after surgery. That's why vsg isn't recommended for people with GERD

Today is the first day of the rest of my life and I am not going to waste it !!!  Tracy

I have suffered from Gerd for the last 20 years.  I had my Sleeve 1.6 years ago and have had an improvement. I have cut my dosage in half, and am planning on weaning off it entirely.  Every body has different reactions to the surgery.  Initially a PPI acid reducer is prescribed to help with the healing in the new sleeve.

I never had stomach problems before but now I do have a little reflux now. I had surgery April 29th and it was pretty bad at first but steadily getting better every day. I take a PPI and my dr. thinks I will be able to stop taking it around the 3 month mark. Keeping my fingers crossed.
