is there such a thing as too few calories?
There's no bright line, one-size-fits-all answer. Yes, I do believe there's a point at which you can eat too few calories for your body's health. But I have no idea where it would be for you. And it changes as you lose weight. Immediately after surgery, you have lots of fat reserves (well, I did!) to draw from. As the fat reserves go down (yeah!), your calorie needs will shift. But it's all trial and error as far as where your breaking point is.
Not really, at least not according to my doctor. He does insist on meeting very stringent protein goals, but not calorie goals. I only ate about 300-400 calories in the early months because I was not hungry and I was meeting my protein needs. He was just fine with this. I am sure he didn't want me to do this at six months, but the first few, no problem. I was eating closer to 700-800 by the end of month six.
Sleeved 6/12/13 - 100 pounds lost to get to goal!
I'm only 2.5 months out, and if I dip below 700 cals or 100 oz water, my weight loss completely stops! I've also noticed that my sleep numbers seem to effect all of that.
