Recovery... seriously

It seems that most tend to take two weeks off following VSG.  Does it really require 2 weeks?  I work a desk job and am wondering if anyone's been back to work after just a week... or less.

I have a desk job. I had surgery on a Friday and was back to work on Thursday. I would have liked to have a few more days off, but for me it was doable.

I had surgery on a Wednesady and went back on Monday and worked 1/2 to 3/4 days.....could have worked more but I wanted to make sure my recovery went well.  BUT it completely depends as different people react differently.

I had surgery on Friday and took the next week off. Probably could have gone back a day or two sooner. You'll want a full week at a minimum.

I had surgery on Monday around 12:30. Went back to work on Friday worked two days, off two. First day I felt great 2nd day tired, and week after, middle of  the road.  I worked only 3.5 hours pretty physical job. I found bending the hardest and got scared I broke something...LOL. Called Dr. it was the site where stomach was removed. kinda of a knot there. that lasted about three days. He said getting up and about helped it heal quicker. I think sit down would be fine with the option to work less hours so you don't get super tired. The best part about going back,, keeps your mind of food and/or other worries concerns. Good Luck! p.s. Doctor knows best  your specific situation.

For me it was the fatigue more than anything that kept me from going back sooner.  I originally put in for 2 weeks, but ended up needing one more week....but...I am a nurse and work 12 hour days and very busy on my feet all day kind of days.  I've heard and read of lots of people with desk type jobs going back sooner.

I had my surgery on a Tuesday night and was back at work on Monday.  I had a very smooth and easy recovery.  Good luck!

I had surgery on Thursday and went back to work part time about Wednesday.  My friend is a lawyer and had her surgery on Thursday and went to work on Wednesday as well.

I took a month off but I'm also older, 54 at the time of surgery. It wasn't until week 3 before I could shower without feeling exhausted so I was glad for all 4 weeks. Besides, I was paid full pay under FMLA so it didn't cut into my vacation time either.
