I don't usually have a period because I have the iud but I've had a lot of blood since released from the hospital yesterday. It's not coming out onto my pad so I'm getting worried the blood is in my urine. Is blood with urine a normal thing? I'm still in a ton of pain and really weak. Anyone else have this?

Blood in your urine or stool is never a normal thing. I to started my cycle the day after I got home from the hospital. I am about to get real personal... So just know that I warned you. You can try wearing a tampon. If it is your cycle the tampon will be saturated with blood. If the blood is still present with the tampon in, then you need to call your doc. If you are unable to wear a tampon then you could try taking a small amount of toilet paper and placing it in your labia near your vaginal opening. Again if it is your cycle the toilet paper will become saturated, if not then it is something else. Sorry for being graphic, but the nurse in me is just honest!

Call your Dr. Or go to the ER.  Better safe then sorry, blood in your urine is not a good thing.

I am still having some blood in my urine and was wondering the same thing. The nurse in the hospital said it was normal after having catheter in for 2 days. If your worried, call your surgeon to make sure!

I irriated the hell out of my surgeon with every little concern - it was my life, and i had never had surgeon, and id rather be safe than sorry. That's what I pay for. Even now, If something doesnt seem normal, i can call an advice nurse, or go to urgent care/ER.

Pain + blood in your urine = immediate doctor visit

Id follow the above advice to figure out where the blood is coming from though....

i take it that it doesn't hurt when you pee then?  cuz it could be a bladder/kidney infection.

did you have a catheter?  did it hurt when you had it in?  could be irritation.

definitely go tot he doctor for a urinalysis for bacteria to rule that out.

I'm pretty sure it's period blood because its chunky and I didn't have a catheter so I'm just a whimp if it starts hurting more ill call doc. Thanks for all the advice.

if it's only coming out of your urethra, and not onto a pad or tampon, call the doc now.  don't wait till it's super painful.

if you did the tampon or tp test and you know it's your period then carry on...

If you had surgery, then you probably had a catheter - they just removed it before you woke up but its pretty standard for major surgeries done under general...
