Am I the only person that refuses to buy a scale for my house? I figured I would just get weighed when I go to the doctor. I don want to obsess with weighing myself all the time.

I would recommend getting one.  Its a great tool for holding yourself accountable.  Weighing yourself every day and logging it is a great tool for developing that accountability.

I like logging on MFP.  I see that trend chart every day and That reminds me that this is a long term commitment I made.  I cant hide from the numbers.  If I can measure it and track it, I can control it.

The trick with the scale, is to learn to focus on the trend not each individual measurement.  Trust me, I am an engineer with impulse control issues.  My group leader was lucky I didn't install load cells in my sneakers.

I have two scales one in each bathroom. But I only weight ever 7 to 10 days. to post and trick. I like to know when i am in a stall too. I never weight more than that. But i understand if some people refuse to own a scale. All the jounrys are different and we all use different things to get us down the road. If not owning a scale gets you down the road more power to you.

I gave in to buying a scale after the first month.  The first month wsnt too bad because i had appointments every 2 weeks where i could do weigh in.  But my next appointment was 2 months later ... that's WAY too long to go without weighing.  I weigh once a week ... thats more than enough to drive me completely insane with worry about my rate of loss.

I recommend getting a decent scale (4 sensors, accurate to 0.1 lb) but continue to fight the urge to get on it. the daily losses are small and dont feel rewarding ... and magnitude is close to a BM.  that's too much yoyo for me.  lol

What brand/type of scale do you have and/or recommend?   I've got one but it's not real accurate compared to my doctor's scale.

Having been through this........

My opinion is that it would be less than smart to not have a scale.....

Yes, we Obese have a general fear/hate for the scale.......it has always been the bearer of bad news..... get over it........

Me and my scale became real good buddies.... we lost 200lbs. together. The scale teaches you trends......and a good scale doesn't lie to you.

When I go to the docs office, I know exactly what I'm gonna weight on their scale. My scale is dead nuts to both my surgeon and PCP.

I say obsess away.....

I've seen people lost their minds over a scale.

If you can do without i say do it.  If you are doing what you are supposed to then you don't have to look at it everyday and maybe sometimes get disappointed.

I didn't have one.  I believe in a scale for maintenance and i did keep a scale pre-surgery and weighed myself every day.

There have been people on here whose husbands and children took their scale away and hid it.

Figure out the best way aroud this journey for you but for sure if you can do without one, do without one.
