Tastes Changing

I cannot begin to explain to the newbies out there how much your tastes can change after surgery.  There is almost nothing that I can drink anymore that I like, and I used to like just about everything.  Crystal Light was one of my favorites, but now it is so acidic to me that I have to add lots of sweetener to it to make it palatable.  I used to LOVE diet Snapple.  I can't stomach the stuff anymore.  About the only thing I like to drink cold is Celestial Seasoning's Blueberry tea.  Berry is OK, and so is raspberry, but that's about it.  All the protein drinks I liked before surgery make me sick to my stomach now.  I can drink Premier Protein Vanilla, but it tastes awful to me.  And I think I'm starting to LIKE Isopure, at least the apple melon and grape frost!  WTH is up with that???  They're the ones that used to make me queasy!

This is so true. Alot of the drinks I tolerated preop don't appeal to me now. I can't stand anything really sweet. I went back to Isopure powder in my coffee since it dissolves well and is not sweet.

This is so true, I use to love Crystal lite lemonade, cant tolerate it.  Many drinks are not tolerated and certainly not missed. Although I am 18 months out I use to live on Diet Dr Pepper and Sunkist Dr Orange...not any more.  I can have an occasional Diet Dr Thunder or a store brand of oraange diet soda....funny how it doesn't agree.

I used to be a chocohalic but i tried to eat a piece of regular chocolate candy and it tasted like metal. I can tolerate some chocolate protein shakes but not many. It is so weird what did they do to our tongues while we were under sedation,.

Ditto!    The sweet protein drinks are really hard to get down.  Things I loved prior to surgery make me gag.  I loathe sugar free chocolate pudding since surgery.   Not allowed to have my beloved Diet Pepsi, so I don't know how that would go down.   Used to love Vitamin Water Zero and Sobe Lifewater 0 and can't stand either of them now, however, my new love is the Crystal Light.  Go figure!   I wonder if this changes after a while???
