I weighted and measured everything your stomach has just been cut and I did not have proper feeling in it to know when I was full. That took months and new training on my part to figure out. In fact I still measure and weigh everything. I don't always eat all of the food because I feel full; but it took months to get that sensation.

Dr Ponce de Leon Mexico     VSG 4 Jun 12. I lost 57 lbs on my own before having a VSG. This is by far the best thing I have ever done for myself.

It is challenging to know when you are full after surgery.  There are subtle signals like my nose runs, or I burp. Sometimes I can feel that if I swallow the next bit, it will be too much.  If I've had a little too much, I get lots of mucus and discomfort.  So I weigh and measure everything and try to put only what I know I can eat on my plate.  I also try to eat slowly so I catch the signals.

It just takes some time. It does get easier.

best wishes,

Carol

I am still measuring most of my food. It helps.

this early out your stomach is still healing and will not give you accurate signals.  Weigh and measure everything, you can't rely on how you feel yet.  Hopefully your doc has given you nstructions on how  much volume you are to eat at this point.

I usually hiccuped or burped, and that was my signal to stop.  Getting a food scale defiiteley helped a lot though.  If you don't have one yet, get one.

Your doctor should have given you some guidelines for how much food you can eat at certain stages. Measure your food. If at any point you feel uncomfortable eating the measured portion out, stop. You definitely don't want to get to the point where it hurts, and definitely not where you're throwing up.
