Bottomless pit

VSG on 06/12/13
I am not sure if it is from acid not being well controlled, my period is coming, my body is responding to shortening of days, or if it is a result of some increased muscle building/fat burning due to my workouts, but for the past three or four days I have felt like a bottomless pit. I am remaining on plan, but the struggle to stay satisfied and disinterested in food is real.

I have increased protein to 100g or higher, and am keeping carbs capped at 40. My calories are at 800/day. I upped my water intake even more thinking that was it, and plan to double up on my ppi at my doctor's approval.

I am toying with kicking up to 900 calories temporarily to see if it helps but I really don't want to open Pandora's box. I'd keep carbs at 40. I am trying to listen to my body, but I am just not sure I can trust it yet.

Thanks-

Laurie

If it's acid, I'll tell you that not even 2000 cal would satisfy it!!! Story of my life!

If you increase your calories do it with fat and not carbs.

Yes fats will help keep you satisfied longer; but make sure they are good fats like avacodos.

Well...I think the suggestions are good (good fats/protein)...you might be fighting something that you don't even know about too...your body might actually need it for a couple of days.  Just know that you are doing it and your results may temporarily slow or you may have to increase your activity level just a tad after your body gets its 'fill' of what it needs temporarily.  I would probably do the increase in the daytime (as I tended to eat more at night and that's a bad habit I wouldn't even want to begin again...this may not be true for you though).  Not that I'm near enough time out post-op to be saying anything but just wanted to throw out something that might get you to thinking about a way to solve the problem.  This might be a good time to think 'moderation is good...even moderation'....so, you may need to do a bit more for a couple of days and then get back to 'home base'.  Let us know!

A couple of days before my TOM I go through this too. It's a tough one...but we're tougher! :-D Just do what you've been doing, and listen to your body. Nobody knows it better than you.

I've had a few "spurts" like this too. Sometimes it is around my TOM, but not always.  if you figure anything out, can you please share it with me.  I hate the 2-3 days this happens to me.  it never seems to be only 1 day, it tends to be AT LEAST 2 days when it happens.  I try to drink more to keep my tummy full, but I just want to eat and eat and eat and nothing seems to satisfy it.  I dont' seem to crave anything in particular, it is more like my mouth just wants to eat and my stomach never registers the food, and it never feels full.

I have noticed more acid lately, so I plan on talking to my dr at my 6mo appointment in Oct.  I don't know if I need to up the meds or try a new one.

I am going to friend request you so we can keep in contact please.  Thanks for posting this!

I have had the same issue this past week too. I am chalking it up to hormone fluctuations due to TOM getting ready to start soon. What I did was increase my protein intake to 80+ grams daily and my water to just shy of a gallon daily. I kept my carbs between 30-60 grams daily but carbs haven't been the biggest percent of my calories (per MFP). My calories are between 800-1000 daily and normally I hover closer to 800 but this past week I was closer to 900. That seemed to help a little bit.

I am calling my doctor on Monday to ask about my PPI though...I am not cool with a gnawing hunger!
