My First real post-op challenge

So I'm still on my post-op protein based liquid diet. I'm 11 days out from surgery.

Today we had a family birthday party for my grandmother and my cousins son.  There was tons of food there from hot dogs and hamburgers, pasta salad, spinach, cranberry salad, chips, dips, veggies and so on. Plus there was cake and ice cream.

I had to sit there while everyone ate lunch and had birthday cake and ice cream. I just kept sipping my water. Everyone kept looking at me as if to say "so sorry we are eating and you can't".

I made it through the day though. I have to make it through Sunday and Monday and on Tuesday I can start having pureed and blended food (cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, mashed potato, blended caned meat/fish, etc.)

Just imagine yourself a few weeks/months from now with your new slimmer body. I know it can be super hard, but you can do this!  You will be absolutely amazed at just how little "real" food it will take to satisfy you in a few more days. :)

You are doing great.  I also had a family birthday party about 10 days post op and I sat and sipped my broth and ate sugar-free, fat-free pudding.  But it was all for a greater good.  5 months later, I'm down 80 pounds!  It is so worth it.

best wishes,

Carol

you did awesome, stay strong as in everything this to shall pass. It is funny that friends and family aplogize for eating in front of us. I always tell them that it is fine with me. Keep up the good work.

You're doing great!  It can be so hard when you are still recovering....once you can start to eat "real" food, you'll still get the looks and maybe even a comment or two about if you're eating enough....and you will be!  Once you start to feel more comfortable with your new tummy, what others think doesn't really matter as much!

Sounds as though you did great, WTG for hanging in there, and not giving them the look back as if to say "so sorry you are eating all that unhealthy stuff and I'm not"  (reverse psychology)  LOL  But never mind me, I can be bad sometimes.  LOL

But Wow!  You get to have mashed potatoes... you go girl... I envy you!  My nutritionist said no potatoes, and just when I thought I was going to throw down on Malt-O-Meal.... she said, "no Cream of Wheat or Malt-o-Meal.  I screamed... Unfair, and asked if I could get a new Nutritionist.  LOL  Just kidding, but I sure thought it.  But, ummm...  yes, I was sure looking forward to some hot cereal.... of any kind. Bought some anyway, just in case she discovers she made a mistake and calls me up and says I can have Malt-o-Meal.  LOL

I'm actually more excited about cottage cheese and scrambled eggs and tuna (w/fat free mayo).

I don't get fish or meats until Week 4.  I'm just entering the soft food stage.  But yes.... cottage cheese sprinkled with pepper is divine!  LOL
