Hi. I was wondering if anyone can give me an idea of how much supplements and protein powders cost per month after surgery? I got all excited today thinking about how much money we would save on food after surgery until my Debbie downer hubby reminded me of how spendy supplements can be! Any other hidden costs after surgery you can think of? Stuff insurance won't pay for?

Thanks

I use the premier protein shakes also. My calcium costs about 15$ month, multivitamins are 17$ for a 45 day supply and B12 is about 10$ for a 90 day supply. My doctor's plan requires all bariatric supplements. Previously, I had an addiction to Dr Pepper and eliminating that habit has saved me major amounts of $$$. So I am still ahead of the game.

I don't use any shakes and get all my protein mainly from lean meat sources.  Not that it matters to me, but that saves the cost of shakes monthly.

i also use Flintstones complete multi-vitamins which are a little cheaper at Target than the ones above.  Otherwise the cost to me is about the same as the first response above.

Another expense that you have after surgery is clothes.  Even if you shop at Goodwill, Walmart etc, you will be buying different size clothes a lot. Remember even the pricey under garments and shoes (went down 1/2 size) need to be replaced. I went from a 18/20 2 X to a size 12 large in 2 month.  It is a fun expense , but still an expense. Good luck!

Thank you for your responses! I didn't think about shoes going down in size?! Crazy!
