Freaking Out!!!
I had my VSG done of Feb 26th/13 ..... Had a leak and 3 additional surgeries in a short amount of time. Next Tuesday (Dec 3rd) I am having my gallbladder removed. With the other surgeries I didn't have enough notice to get nervous. The surgeon also doesn't know if he can do it with scopes or if he has to do an opened surgery. He is also going to remove scar tissue from the pervious surgeries as well as fix the hole left in my belly from the feeding tube. My last surgery was opened and it took me a good 4 weeks for the pain to go. For those who have had their gallbladders removed , how was the pain compared to the VSG?
Thanks!!

Hi I had my gall bladder removoed in October 2011 and I just had my vertical sleeve 11/18/2013 and to be honest with you this procedure was more painful then the gallbladder. You do have some gas pains but very minimal and I was able to get up and go to the bathroom on my own right after my gall bladder procedure without any problems. You will be fine just make sure you walk and get that air out good luck!
Haven't had the VSG yet, but I had my gallbladder out several years ago and it was no big deal. I felt better after the surgery than before because the attacks I'd been having were so painful. The gas pains were minimal, and I went home the same day. The only suggestion I have is take a stool softener.
I had laproscopic gallbladder surgery a few years back...it was my first surgery (that I remember as I had my tonsils taken out when I was like 4). Anyway, maybe I was a total wuss but the pain after the gallbladder removal seemed worse than the VSG. But, I was back to work after a few days from it whereas with the VSG I was out for a couple of weeks. I think the difference is due to diet and nutrition changes along with major surgery so...I was just too weak and tired to do a lot although I wasn't in much pain as I was with the gallbladder ordeal. Also, that the doc is taking out scar tissue as well might make a difference too? Let us know when you can how things are going and you will be fine!
