Bad Rash

Hi,

So it's been over three months since my surgery and this weekend I was fiddling with my "skin flap" which is right above where I had two csections. I was looking underneath and lo and behold I have a very bad rash under there! I looked again today and it seems to be spreading all over the area. (sorry if this is gross)

I hadn't noticed it because that part of me has been numb since my hysterectomy. I called my dr to see if he can prescribe a cream but has anyone else experienced this? Do you think just cortisone cream would make it go away?

Thanks!

If you have any desire for plastic surgery in the future, I'd say go see your PCP so this can be formally documented in your chart. Some insurance companies will cover paniculectomy with the proper documentation of skin problems.

That said, it depends on the type of rash whether or not cortisone would help. If it's yeast, some medications might actually make it worse.

Document it just in case.  My doctor told me to use "Gold Bond" medicated powder.  Also use a hair dryer to dry your skin after you shower, just don't burn yourself.  I was told not to use cortisone cream but to use an anti fungal cream, like for athlete's feet, etc or a cream for a yeast infection.  You may get other suggestions but the best thing to do is ask your doctor.

Oh wow! Ok I will make an appointment with my pcp. My surgeon prescribed Niostatin (sp?) over the phone but also suggested I follow up with my pcp to document it. I honestly never even contemplated plastic surgery since it just sounds like the recovery process is long and hard and I'm sooo sick of surgeries!
