How Many Calories, Carbs, Protein, Fat?

My program was rather strict, and I like it that way.  I was allowed under 800 calories, over 80 grams of protein and under 40 carbs.  I stayed closer to 300-400 calories the first two months or so while making my protein goals. I kept my calories as low as possible without triggering hunger all the way until goal.

The strictness is helping me a lot so far. I figure that if I try and eat under a thousand calories and over 80 grams of protein I should and low carbs I should start losing weight. I don't have a scale in the house because I'd be weighing myself every day. I do need to invest in a good food scale however. Thanks Elina_7.

Sounds to me like you are pre op, right? If that's the case, I would try to stay somewhere around 1200 calories per day, aim for 80-100 grams of protein and stick with the motto of "lean and green" when it comes to your food.

I am impressed that you are able to limit your carbs to such a degree at this point. That will serve you very well in the future. However, if you find it very difficult to sustain a carb intake that is so restricted, my suggestion would be to aim for under 100 grams of carbs per day until you have WLS.

Also, be sure to get plenty of water in while you are pre op. Being well hydrated will also set you up for a successful recovery.

Hi Kairk. Yes, I had my initial visit with doc and nutritionist on the 9th. I have to wait 6 months for the surgery per my insurance company (my BMI is 47.6 and I could have had the surgery right away if it had been 50, glad I am waiting the 6 months to get my head straight though).

I am amazed that I am not hungry having the 600-900 calories per day. I have been sipping water as much as possible, I had been drinking about 2 16.9 oz bottles per day, now I try to drink 4 of them.

Thanks for your response.

If you can get in more water than 64 ounces, do it.  The water is really helpful, plus it may help stave off constipation which is common on high protein diets.  I aim for 100 ounces or more per day (I usually get just shy of 128), which means whenever I am not eating, I'm drinking.
