yes, I've been constipated since I started the post-vsg diet, three months before surgery.  I take a half dose of miralax every day, and that keeps me regular.

best wishes,

Carol

I took a dose of Miralax daily, then as time went on and the fiber in my diet increased I decreased to half a dose, then every other day and was eventually able to discontinue.  I am 14 mos out and eat a lot of nonstarchy vegetables.  I tried Metamucil and that helped a bit but my dr told me miralax was not habit forming and was the best choice.

I take Mag07 from the vitamin shoppe.  It's capsules.  It keeps me cleared out.

I increased the amount  of low carb veggies to get more fiber and have coffee twice a day, that works for me most of the time

when that don't work milk of magnesia will very quickly

I had a difficult time early on as well.  Preop I already had GI struggles and suffer with fissures sometimes.  I tried so many things before I found what worked for me.  Now I eat Metamucil Multigrain Wafers once daily and rarely have a problem.  The only time I have a problem is when I forget to eat them one day.

The worst thing I tried was Miralax.  I took a single half dose and had (apologies) explosively painful results.  Never again.

on another note, I started taking Perfect Iron and have actually had even less of a problem.  Most iron supplements cause constipation, but Perfect Iron for me has made things easier.

if desperate, use an over the counter suppository. milk of mag worked for me but my doc says don't use it long term. if you are a few months out then add flax seed or chia seed to shakes or yogurt. d
