What are your favorite protein bars? I HATE Quest Bars.. ick.
Well, I went to GNC and bought a bunch of Quest bars. Problem is.. I HATE THEM! EW! I have tried the Apple pie and the chocolate brownie and I really don't like them at all. Anyone have any OTHER suggestions for a good protein bar? I really loathe eating breakfast, I want something quick and easy so I don't have to even think about it. Any suggestions would be SO great! I think I'm the only person alive that doesn't like the Quest bars. LOL.
Something like mini crust less quiches might work. Make up a batch at the beginning of the week and freeze them for later!

You are so lucky..lol. I wish I hated Quest bars!! I can't keep them in the house..I find they are like candy bars to me..especially the chocolate chip cookie dough one. In any case..I don't have another alternative to protein bars as I was never a big fan of them until Quest bars..however for a breakfast option..if you like hot chocolate there is a good protein version. I drink a Proti Diet Hot Cocoa with 2 tsp of instant coffee mixed in. For a single pouch mixed with boiling water..it's 90 Cal 15g of protein and 4 net carbs..it's like drinking a Mochaccino every morning :-)
Zone Bars: chocolate and graham cracker and peanut butter chocolate. Bought two boxes today. Feel like I'm super duper cheating each and every bite. On the other hand, once you're truly, truly in ketosis, you might not like the taste, might find it too sweet. Can you even imagine???
I've never tried any other bars, these were the ones I presug dieted and post surg had on hand at all times.
good morning Michelle,
i have a couple thoughts:
1) Did you try microwaving Quest bars for 15-30 seconds? can revive ones that have gotten leathery from being on shelf too long or being exposed to extreme temperatures.
2) Be open to try others flavors as I find there is quite a lot of variety of both texture and taste. White Chocolate Raspberry seems to be a good texture change for me.
3) Getting away from Quest, I have been enjoying Power Crunch bars lately tho only 13 grams protein.
4) A bit high in calories and sugar, but I find Cliff Builders Bars tasty and widely available with 20 grams protein. Mint Chocolate or Chocolate Peanut Butter…..
5) If all else fails, hard boiled eggs and string cheese could be carried in pocket or purse to make sure you left the house with some protein. I try to boil a bunch over weekend so I will always have hard boiled eggs on hand.
All the best, Katy

My new favorite are "Think Thin" bars, I've been able to get them at Safeway and Target. The fudge flavor tastes like brownies, they're really good! They're 230 cal and 20g protein, and the protein/calorie ratio gets the thumbs-up from my surgeon.

Maybe the universe is trying to tell you something. What they really are are fortified candy bars. Not the best thing to eat on a regular basis. So maybe if they don't taste great, you won't become addicted to eating them? Just a thought. I use these only in an emergency when other options are not available.
As Gwen mentioned, egg bites are easy to make ahead, pop in the microwave for a few seconds and you're good to go. They're not messy and contain plenty of protein, depending on what you add to them.
Good luck. I hope that you find something that you like.

Ooooh, I do remember one that I liked. Health Wise Cinnamon Raisin Crispy Protein bar. I had to eat these on my pre-op diet. 150 calories, 15 grams of protein and 18 grams of carbs. Not great stats, but they were delicious.
