What time is YOUR breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and do you have snacks?

I also had the most trouble avoiding food in the evening, so I shifted my meals to later in the day.  I get up around 6AM, I eat breakfast around 10AM, lunch between 2 and 3 pm, and dinner at 7pm.  I crush my vitamins and mix with 1/3 cup of plain, no-fat greek yogurt twice a day, so I do have a little yogurt when I get up and before bed, but I try to avoid other snacking.

My Nutritionist was fine with it, as long as I have three meals a day and they are more than 4 hours apart, she didn't care what time I eat.  And its worked well for me.  If I eat at 7pm, and then I can have my yogurt at 9pm, I avoid the need to snack in the evenings.

best wishes,

Carol

I did something similar. I usually don't eat dinner around 7pm. I stay up late and eating later helps curb the evening cravings.

Thanks SO MUCH to all of you.  Maybe..  I'll just add in a fourth "meal".  My nutritionist said it would be okay to add in another "meal", but I just hated the thought of adding additional calories.  So, it's me essentially skipping breakfast and starting my meals at noon, six and then 9pm, or having breakfast at 10, lunch at noon, dinner at 6 and then a fourth meal (or snack) at night.  Now.. since I'm thinking I need to cut out those protein bars (I don't think they satisfy me for more than an hour or two anyway) I'm wondering what I should have instead.  Maybe I'll just have some yogurt with strawberries?  Or, cheese and a piece of turkey luncheon meat?

Thank you all so much for everything... helping me through these past few days has been such a blessing to me.  I was SO frustrated a bit ago, I knew that exercising would probably be the only thing that would get me out of this "funk".  So I popped in my old Leslie Sansone Walk away the pounds... and I walked away some frustration :)  Thanks to all of you for your help suggestions, comments, encouragement and so on... keep it coming! :)

The cheese/meat option sounds like it would be more likely to fill you up than the softer yogurt option!

Everyone's plan is different and I think each person regardless of what a surgeon says as far as following some kind of schedule needs to figure out what works best for them.

I would never be able to get my protein/calories in me without eating three meals and three snacks, which also happens to be my surgeons plan. I can barely eat 1.5 oz of dense protein in a single meal even though I chew, chew, chew with good breaks in between every bite or two.

While I eat three meals & three snacks really it is just six small meals per day. I don't see it as grazing as they are planned meals and generally I don't nibble on anything in between. My "snacks" are often leftovers, which is why I categorize them as meals. Being a fan of Tolkien books and the movies I like to have fun with the meal names of the Hobbits. Breakfast, Second Breakfast, Elevensies (although I call it Twosies or Threesies since this is about when I eat something), Lunch, Supper, Dinner).  I have "Afternoon Tea" often which consists of just tea for me. ;)

I'm only allowed three meals a day and no liquid calories but I still have a shake a day otherwise I wouldn't be able to get my protein in.  My meals are anywhere between 1-4 ounces of protein so that shake is important!

My evening meals are the only ones that have semi-reliable timing.  I eat dinner around 6-7pm and I eat a light meal (normally a frozen protein yogurt popsicle) around 10pm.

My daytime meals are totally unreliable since they're dependent upon what errands and things I have to do.  I'm a homemaker, so I don't have a regular daily schedule like people who work outside of the home tend to have!

I work 3-11pm a few times a week, so my schedule is wonky. Sometimes I don't get home until 1am, or I sleep until 10am.

10-11am: water or protein drink

1-2pm: small meal, like 1.5-2oz dense protein and a few bites of veggie/cheese, or protein drink

5-6pm: snack such as string cheese, yogurt, hard-boiled egg

9-10pm: small meal, like 2 oz dense protein and some veg or cheese

12-1am: snack such as  1oz deli meat, yogurt, cheese

Some people don't eat right before bed, but sometimes I really need to. If I don't have time for a dinner break at work, I usually eat a yogurt or something in the car on the way home.

Do not eat protein bars...that is a complete scam and doesn't meet our needs.  Do you like PB2?  They have chocolate PB2...you could eat a bit of that for breakfast...you take two tbsp. scoops and add a tbsp. of water and mix and you are good.  That has 45 calories and 5 protein grams...if you did 4 tbsp. scoops and 2 tbsp. of water then it would be 90 calories and 10 grams of protein.  You might like it for the morning and it's quick...just a thought.  Of course to do that...you might want to have all your multivitamin and things you need to take with fluids with you so you can take it and have 30 min. to wait before breakfast?  And then you could take your coffee to go and it would be your mid-morning snack.  Then you could eat lunch at 1 and 1/2 your dinner at 6 and then the other half at 8:30 maybe?  If you know that part of your bad habits/eating problems stem around late snacking then...well...you need to deal with that and not by doing it anyway.  lol.  Good Luck!
