Maintenance- comparing my sleeved self to my husband who lost without surgery
Bless your heart! I'm so sorry that you guys been going through SO much lately. Is it possible that he is stress-eating as a result of everything that you have been dealing with? I know if MY spouse were dealing with HALF of the things that you have been, I'd live in the kitchen at this point!!
I completely agree with you that you should set an example by beginning to weigh again. Even if it's under the guise of "keeping track of your swelling" or something non-WLS related, let him SEE you step on the scale and HEAR you say that you need to be better about weighing regularly. Maybe that will open the door to the conversation about his own need to track the scale. It doesn't sound like things are out of control yet, so hopefully things can get back on track sooner rather than later.
Good luck, dear. Let us know how it goes!

Bless you for loving your hubby enough to try and help him. I am experiencing a similar situation with my sister. She lost and got within 15 lbs of goal on Weigh****chers. Over the last year she has put 10-15 back on. As I have been steadily losing weight and getting closer she is getting that panicky feeling that she needs to get back on track. I've totally been in that panicky place which causes you to obsess about food and eat more and the cravings get out of control. There is only a 5 lb difference between us right now. I've really been trying to get her on the protein first eating to help her cravings and get her off the weigh****chers 'now that you are so close to goal you can only eat vegetables which is going to leave you hungry all day plan'.
In the end it is up to the individual but sometimes we all need a little tough love to help us see the reality of what we are doing to ourselves.
Men still have it easier!!!! Hahaha, that's my excuse....if we ate like he did, we would have gained double...the universe really does love us equally right?
Maybe it's your turn to support him and hopefully he'd be open to making some changes? Sounds like you have a good relationship where you can talk about it?
im sorry Ive been gone so long I didnt realize you were going through all this - if there's anything I can do...

If I ate what he did I would have most certainly gained double. Thankfully that metabolism of his helps shield him somewhat, and allows him to lose easily when he is really focued. I am mildly concerned that his mindset has shifted over to just getting surgery if it is a problem though. He is working on it though, and hopefully I can start to exercise here in a bit because that is the number 1 thing I can do.... gets him out of the house and away from the fridge for an hour in the evening which is his prime scarfing time.

I have always heard that about 3% - 5% of people can lose more than 50 pounds without surgery and keep it off, but I personally don't buy that. I have never known a person who lose that much weight and did not gain it all back within five years.
Not weighing is my major factor in regain. I get on the scale everyday no matter how bad it might be. That is what I consider the reason that I am maintaining seven years out from surgery in October.

Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
Just a little update...
We have now gone to 2 support group meetings. The junk food is cleared out, he is exercising a little more, and the meals are super healthy. He is more aware of his portion size, but not quite measuring and tracking yet. He did tell the support group that he needs to- and that is a big step for him to admit something like that publicly. He has taken off a few pounds. Positvie progress for both of us-
