You're hungry because a large percentage of your calories are liquid.  You need to eat solid protein and track every single bite you put in your mouth.  Nuts have way too many calories.  Quest Bars is actually being sued for misreprenting the nutritional value of their bars.  Have you met with a nutritionist?

Are you weighing your food on a food scale? Eyeballing it? Or measuring it with measuring cups & spoons?

In my experience the most accurate method is weighing it on a food scale. This is what I do. Based on past experience and from others experiences eyeballing it is a bad idea. I weighed, then decided to eyeball it for a month or so once while trying to lose before I had WLS and then I went back and weighed what I thought was three oz of protein, and so on and I was SO OFF! I was actually eating almost twice what I thought, which would explain why I wasn't losing anymore.

Are you tracking every little bite you are eating? Are you drinking plenty of fluids?

I am also eight months post op and still losing steadily and I'm actually eating between 900-1000 calories as my doctor has instructed me to do since 6 months out.

My advice is to just make sure you are doing everything to the T. Weighing everything you eat, logging it into a calorie counting website or app, drinking plenty of fluids, moving every day, and so on.

Good luck.

you need to get on real food shakes and quest bars are very high in calories

you want to eat 10 cal for ever gm of protein , rel food eggs, shrimp, meat, you need to find the time

jerky is ok and you can eat it at work or while driving

solid food will help with the hunger also it keeps you full alot longer than shakes

Mickeymantle,

I really appreciate your response and suggestion.

To begin with, I was a pure vegetarian which made it very hard to get all my protein in, I switched to being a chickitarian(chicken only) meat wise, so it makes it a little easier, but still struggle to get my protein in the form of solids!

My 2 cents... I know unless I'm weighing and measuring every bite, lick, taste I lose weight at a snails pace. Especially since I've gotten past the initial fast weight loss.

I completely understand that it's easier to eat quest bars and shakes but seriously those quest bars, as much as I love them they stall my weight loss.

Also, I've found that when my weight loss slowed down I just quit weighing myself. As long as I'm actually weighing and measuring my intake, sleeping, and drinking I know that my sleeve will work. My mantra has been something Elina said in a post once. "Hunger is not a bad thing, I will survive"

so I just follow the rules count everything I put in my mouth move everyday.

It totally sucks when our bodies don't follow the rules, but you can do it. Don't make it about a number on the scale make it about your new life.

And yes... This is forever- I will forever be a food addict

hugs, Kathy

Very well said Kathy, I will forever be a food addict too, and hunger isn't a bad thing - makes me smile! I just uploaded my profile pic! And from my pic nobody will say I am 198 lbs, but sadly I am! The more I try not to bother abt the numbers, the more I do! :( Thanks for the advise & will try to stick to it. I am shocked to hear quest bars made you gain weight!!! They have 20 mg protein, 4 net carbs & only 160 calories!!!

The net carbs in your Quest bars may be giving you a false sense of security as well. Those bad boys still have 20+ grams of carbs in them. Try tracking a few days with total carbs, not net, and see where you are.

FWIW, I dropped from 258-168 in ~6 months, then took ~another 6 months to go from 168-158. The last stretch is definitely the hardest. I played around with calories, exercise, fluids, etc. What FINALLY got me over the finish line was reverting back to a strict 800 (documented) calories, carbs below 50 (total), careful attention to fluids (64+ oz/day) and keeping up with exercise 2x/week.
