Vets, how long did it take?
How long did it take until you stopped being surprised that you small clothes fit? That you stopped feeling like a fat person? When I look in the mirror it does not compute with how I feel about myself.
How long does it take for this to adjust? I'm sure it is different for everyone, but curious to hear different perspectives.

No "vet" here, by any means- yesterday, as I was tugging my cutoffs up over my hips, I had that old "**** girl, your getting too fat for your pants- this is bad-bad" thought. It took a moment for reality to catch up- that 1. I'm probably 4-5#s lighter than when I bought these, and 2. That, formerly, I always bought and wore my clothes extremely loose, and when they got tight, it was because I was gaining weight again. Now, I wear my clothes to fit properly, that means they fit my body and are snug sometimes.
Yah, it takes a while to re-write those old tapes. Take lots of pictures--look at them--go to the mall - thrift store- wherever- and spend the whole afternoon just trying on different outfits and checking yourself out in those lovely 3-view mirrors-front back, sideways. Do wear clothes that fit properly-And, just give it time. We are all a beautiful work in progress, here- on the inside as well as the outside; it's just that sometimes the inside takes a while to catch up with the outside.

i'm so not a vet but it was just recently that I stopped thinking of my weight as a number with a "2" in front of it. Now I struggle with transposing the second two numbers. I almost always say or think I'm "153" instead of "135". Weird!
And I'm still amazed every day when I can pull on a pair of size 8 jeans with comfort and ease. Every time I think "they're not gonna fit!"
I was talking to friend who has had the surgery already about this tonight. I am having my surgery tomorrow but have lost a total of 80lbs. so far. My work peeps keep telling me I look and act like a totally different person. I took some photos of myself to post on line but had a hard time seeing much change. I know I am wearing clothes that did not fit me a few months back and see the lower scale numbers but is hard to process. I know I feel GREAT and must focus on this.
I have adjusted and also noticed that I am forgetting what it was like being super obese... taking the thinner me for granted more. I imagine this is part of why some of us struggle with regain. I am 2.5 years out.
