I stayed in the hospital an extra day because I kept vomiting. I am hime now and trying to sip water. I was given a script for prilosec and an antivomiting capsole. How do I take the capsule?
I plan on starting my protein shakes tomorrow, but the though of tjat makes me nauseated. What should I be focusing on?

I'm 6 weeks out. I was only able to drink about 3 oz. of protein shake at a time - even that was a struggle. I mostly focused on crystal lite since water made me nauseated. Sugar free pops were my friend as well (make sure you get the kind that aren't made with sorbitol as their second ingredient). I was able to take my capsules just fine with a little sip of a drink. Welcome home! xoxo

Thanks for responding Elaine. When did you start drinking your shakes? My stomach is so queasy. I just too prilosec and I will see how that goes. Right now I am continually sipping warm water and wondering if I made the right decision :(

I felt the same way!! Major buyer's remorse in the beginning. I was in the hospital for 5 days (due to a kinked sleeve, then an RNY following day) so I didn't even begin protein until Sunday (had surgery on a Tuesday, then a Wednesday). Those first few days in the hospital I was lucky to even eat 1/2 of a popsicle for the entire day. I mainly sipped water and ate ice chips. Water still makes me nauseated. I can only drink crystal lite and some days get most of my liquids by eating SF popsicles. I was never able to meet the protein shake goals as far as the first few weeks went, I was lucky to get 30 grams tops. Oh! I also ate bites of yogurt here and there for protein. Good luck!! xoxo

Sorry to hear you're having a rough time. I had some buyer's remorse myself that first week, too. I'm happy to tell you it does get better! Focus on liquids and rest for now until you get that nausea under control. Is the antivomiting capsule helping you at all? Plain water made me nauseous the first couple of weeks and I did better drinking flavored water. Now I can drink plain water with no problems. Popsicles were also helpful early on.

I'm glad you're home! I'd ask the doc for a different nausea med - you can get zofran, for example, that dissolves on your tongue. There's nothing worse than having to swallow a pill when you're already feeling nauseated.
Sip lots - focus on getting your fluids in. The protein is secondary at this point.
