I came across this article this morning, and a lot of the "rules" are definitely good advice for us - or easily adaptable for us!

Although I do caution against telling people you have an allergy if you don't actually.  That's a crummy thing to do and will make extra work for the kitchen.  So please don't!

Great article, lots of handy tips including staying fit while on the road.

I don't think she was advising to tell the waitress there is an allergy issue, just the people at the table you are eating with so they stop (won't) hassle you to live a little by eating something off plan.. but if they are your friends, wouldn't they know what your allergies are?

And if they're you're friends... couldn't you just tell when what you're willing/able to eat or not?  The mind boggles.  But I'm fortunate that I don't eat out with people who give me grief for my way of eating.

Great article.  Many of the suggestions listed are exactly what I do now.   And high quality steak is always a great choice when eating out paired with vegetables... hmmmm.

I find that I tend to get tartare these days when I'm at steak places.  Of course, I got it before too, but as an appetizer and then I'd eat the whole steak too ;)

And the potato.  And the salad.  And the dessert.

Last night my husband wanted to eat salad so we went to Souplantation.  I really dislike this place, but decided to go along with his preference.  I knew the choices there for protein were extremely limited and was not looking forward to this experience.  I ended up eating chili and some broccoli and felt sick all night.

He told me while we were eating dinner that he considered taking some ahi out of the freezer and cooking it last night.  I wanted to thump him in the head.  I would much rather eat ahi than crap food at a franchise.

You and me both!  Some restaurants are so challenging for us.  I feel confident that I can find something to eat anywhere, but it might suck :P
