Thoughts on carbinated drinks
Hehe, that makes total sense! It would be confusing.

I made a similar post asking this same question a couple weeks ago. I'm also sick of water! After the comments I received and research I've done I bought a 2 liter of Pepsi Max and I've allowed myself a couple glasses. I loaded it with ice and I let all the ice melt before taking a sip so it's not quite as bubbly. It's not too bad. I also made sure there was NO food in my stomach. I burped a few times but overall I felt fine. I think it's a slippery slope though so I've decided to add it to my "in moderation" list.
Thanks, good idea about loading it with ice. I know my sleeve is working because I can feel it get right depending what I eat, but I have g had any issues with any food I have ate. My stomach had tolerate it all.

I tried Diet Coke the other day because COME ON. WHO DOESN'T LOVE DIET COKE?? The answer, my friend, would be me. Not that the taste was bad. But my sleeve cried out in pain and frustration. It was not fun. I don't recommend it. Or, I recommend it one time, just so you know how it feels. I won't do it anymore.
(PS - I felt the same way when I tried to eat a bite of pizza crust with the Papa John's dipping sauce... never again)
Your less than two months out from surgery so I see why you stomach didn't tolerate the pizza crust or the diet coke. lol
I will be a year post op on the 14th of this month and I still haven't tried soda. I was thinking about it the other day because the diet dr. pepper really looked good, but I didn't. lol
You're exactly right, pharmagirl! Those were not my finest moments. LOL It only took one bite of that pizza crust. I was in a bad family situation and had no food alternatives. Learned several lessons there!
GoBlueGirl is about a month ahead of me, so we're kind of in the same place. That's why I thought she'd benefit from hearing about my unfortunate mistake. :)
Good on you for staying away for so long!
I'm still pre-op so I can't speak from personal experience, but my friend who has a sleeve will occasionally drink soda. To keep it from causing discomfort, he either buys a 2-liter bottle and leaves it open to let it get flat, or gets a fountain drink and blows bubbles in it for a bit till it flattens.
Another thing to consider if you really are missing that diet cola taste might be to get the mixers for soda machines like Soda Stream. You could mix them with regular water to get the taste (and ostensibly, the caffeine!) without the carbonation.
And yeah, the chemicals aren't ideal...but there are a lot of chemicals in those protein shakes, too!
