In the hospital
So last night after dinner I started to feel some pain on the right side of my abdomen right below my breast. It started out dull and then over the course of a few hours the pain got so severe that I had my boyfriend take me to the ER. After some wonderful pain meds and a cat scan it has been determined that I have an infection in my gall bladder and I will be needing surgery to remove it.
So now I'm just waiting. Surgery is in about an hour. I knew this was a possibility since it is common for WLS patients to experience gall bladder issues but I guess I just thought that since I've never had issues before and since I'm young that I would be fine. Guess not. Oh well. This is a common surgery and in my opinion it was worth it. I'm 97 lbs down and I'm not gonna let this setback bring me down!
Wish me luck! Can anyone tell me how long your recovery was after gall bladder removal? Can I expect to be at work Monday morning?
I had my gallbladder out in October. The recovery was MUCH easier than my sleeve recovery but I got pneumonia after my sleeve so I'm not sure I can really compare. I had my GB surgery on a Tuesday and took the rest of the week off but I probably could have been back at my desk job in 3 or 4 days easily. Maybe take a couple extra days off.
