I go to a trainer 3x a week and do cardio (treadmill/elliptical) 3x week. In the training sessions we focus a lot on core, abs, and legs. Examples of exercises.
Squats-great for legs (all types, with weight, without weight, against the wall, with resistance bands). Head to youtube and look up squats you will find lots of videos.
Crunches and Situps for the abs (there are modified ways to do them if you can't get on and off the floor easy).
Side bends for the waist area.
These are all exercises you can do without machines. You can do more stuff if you have access to machines. I found this article that may help as well: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/beginner-core-training-guide.htm
Planks are great for abs but keep in mind that if you have a lot of excess skin you're not really going to see "results". I can feel the hard muscles in my gut...but they are buried under a LOT of extra skin.
Legs respond quickly to just about anything - walking, resistance bands, etc. But again, you might develop rock hard muscles underneath several inches of hanging skin. Just know that building muscle is really helping you in the long run whether or not you can see it! ![]()
