Hi Tim,

Glad you made it through my "wall of text". It seemed shorter until I saw it posted. Yikes!

I suggest having your wife "relocate" the scale the first month and relax into the mindset of recovery and adapting.  Like the pre-surgical restricted diet, make it non-negotiable. That first month will surprise you. You may have to white knuckle it a bit but you'll get by.  

Too many people get on the scale after the first week and are upset they've either gained a bit or lost very little. They forget they were pumped full of air and IV fluids and post surgical swelling. It all takes time to dissipate.  Think about it scientifically and that may make it easier. That's what helped me because it's an emotional situation to begin with. I mean, we're removing part of our stomach! What!! ??  I needed some science/facts to even me out.  

Again, do what works for you. We all cope differently. Take care!

Surgery: April 30, 2014: HW: 288 SW: 250 Achieved Goal 149 lbs: April 8, 2015 CW: 158 lbs (working on losing 65 lb regain as of June 1, 2021. Weight was at 215 lbs). Fighting every darn day!
