Hello White Dove,
I think I am worried that if I drop more calories, which I know I will have to do, if my body adjusts to that intake I wont be able to increase much to maintain before I might gain..... But a sacrifice I must make! ?
Hello Grim_Traveller,
I think you are right, I need to drop my calories. I do track everything but as I am over 1000 calories in consumption I think that's the problem. I will take your advice and cut back to 900 initially then go to 800 if need be.
Feel like I will be in starvation mode again! ?
My coworker recently told me she had the surgery in 2013(vsg) and she said it was a failed surgery. That she currently has a grapefruit sized hole in her sleeve that is the reason for her weight gain...she said she was scoped and everything but current insurance wouldn't approve her for any more weight loss surgery related surgeries. Some of your problem's seems similar to hers but truthfully I don't know how anyone can have a grapefruit sized hole in their sleeve for years and not be dead.

I did not do much research and even what I did do did not make much difference until I actually had the surgery.
I had surgery before VSG was popular and had RNY. Dr. Alvarez seems to be an amazing surgeon. He has many YouTube videos that will answer all of your questions.
It is an amazing feeling to not be able to eat much food. It is amazing to see the pounds drop off like magic. The next year should be amazing for you.
My biggest surprise was that I lost the hunger sensation and lost interest in food in general. I started treating it like medicine and make sure I had all of my protein and other nutrition. But I had to remind myself to eat.
The hardest part for me is nothing. I still have little interest in food and find it easy to lose weight when I do have regain. It has all been easy for me.

Hi everyone,
I've been approved for VSG in Mexico with Dr. Alvarez. I've had so many thoughts since I got the notification...
What do you wish you had known before surgery?
What surprised you the most after?
What was the hardest part?
I got that one, too, since my kids keep stealing my withings. I like it just as much (even though it was much less expensive).
If you have not figured it out, both you and your husband can use it separately. If your app is open and you weigh it will record your weight. Close the app before your husband uses it and then he can open the app and weigh himself. It will keep the weights separate.

You can ask your surgeon, but I believe you should have been taking stool softeners. You can get a buildup that blocks your intestine and the thick sludge is what is squeezing out around it. The accumulation can be easily seen on an x-ray. They will probably treat it by having you take a bottle of magnesium citrate.
Once cleared up you will need to take stool softeners and some type of laxative to prevent constipation.
I take a magnesium tablet every day. Many people take a daily dose of Miralax.
Talk to your surgeon, I am not a doctor but have lived with weight loss surgery for twelve years. I know more about this than most doctors.
