You are right! I spent most of yesterday online trying to find a decent protein powder that is lactose free. I ended up ordering the Orgain Organic Vegan Plant protein. (I am sure it won't taste as good, but will have to sacrifice). The reviews were good, except concerns for metals, which seem to be mixed, but it is inexpensive and I am a senior on a fixed income. If I can't tolerate it I will try to find the Optimum Nutrition Isolate. (These types proteins are so expensive!). Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to reply! I have been using the Pure Protein 100% whey protein powder (thought it was Quest, but I checked again) and still having issues so didn't know if it was the powder. I have cut out practically all dairy except the protein powder and Greek yogurt. (I am going to cut out the yogurt as well). These two things really helped to up my protein intake, as I haven't felt like eating, so it is hard to find replacement proteins. You are right, the gummies are expensive for such low protein! I am definitely going to order some Lactaid tablets as soon as I get done with this post. They have a fast acting chewable, so will give that a try. If all fails, I will make an appointment to see a Gastrologist. Thanks you again for the advice!!!

Hello, I think I may be lactose intolerant. I had my gallbladder taken out about 2 years ago. I have been having nausea/diarrhea every day for a while now and have originally attributed it to stress. (I have lost my mother, sister in-law and my husband has been suffering with a serious medical problem). I thought maybe I could be lactose intolerant and was previously drinking pre-made (Qwest) protein shakes but have switched to Quest protein powder as it is lower in lactose. Still having problems, so want to cut out lactose completely. I have found protein gummies at Bariatric Pal and was wondering if we can take gummies with VSG? (I have been using melatonin gummies at night as well as I thought they may work faster than pill form). Thanks all and Happy 4th!

One more question. (Sorry!) Do the Centrum big, hard pills really dissolve enough to be effective?

Hello, I am 5+ years out and would like to switch from the Multi-Vitamin patch, as it is too expensive for me. I use, one multi-vitamin patch, one Vitamin D3 - 50 mcg/2000iu, one Fish oil 1200 mg (includes 720 mg omega 3), one Folic Acid - 400 mcg per day, and one B12 - 500 mcg per week). My labs have been fine. Can I switch to Centrum Silver (I am 60 years old) or Centrum Adult twice a day instead of the patch? Also, do you think it is necessary that I continue the other supplements? (Centrum Silver includes: D3 - 500 IU, Folate - 400 mcg and B12 25 mcg which would be doubled twice a day). I noticed that the Centrum is not really comparable to patch levels and I am getting very confused at this point. (I have moved from Maryland to Florida, so no longer visit my original surgeon and I am not really sure if requirements have changed since my surgery). Thank you!

It has been awhile since my surgery. Can we sleevers now take tablet medications are do we still need to take capsules?

Thank you for your reply! It surely can't hurt and my regular doctor recommended it long before surgery.

I used to use Omega 3 before surgery but stopped after as it was not a required suppliment. This Omega 3 seems to have some healthful benefits. Do any of you veteran sleevers use it? If so, do you use the soft gel cap oil and what doseage? Thanks again!

Thank you everybody for responding! The labs really tell the story don't they? (I have been spending too much for the spray, so I think I will try another less expensive method).

Does anyone take B-12? I was advised to take it weekly (I use Nascobol spray) after my surgery and have been using it ever since. I rarely hear it mentioned on this site. Just curious. Thanks!

You are absolutely right! So listen up newbies and keep in touch with your doctor and you won't be asking questions like I am down the road. (FYI - they informed me that Gas X was an approved medication that may help with queasiness).

Perfect! I will try to email/call my doctor today. (It would be nice to have an updated list of the do's and don'ts since information is ever changing). Thanks again for your insight!

Thank you Grim! Do you have a recommendation of what to use instead? (I would call my doctor, but I now live in Florida and my Doctor is in Maryland and I haven't kept up with him in years).

Thank you! Yes, and there are differences between RNY limitations and sleeve. Gets jumbled together alot of times.

Thanks for letting me know. I am lucky I haven't had any problems as I have been taking it all along for queasy stomach.
