Hi, Laura!

I just noticed that you are so skinny. We are the same height and had the same starting weight, but I have only gotten down to 219, now 225. I was down to 219 within the first 6 months and then nothing. I just had my 2 year anniversary in August.

What has worked for you? Any tricks or secrets?

Hello I am 7 years out from RNY, lost 150 lbs but have gained 20 I think from not eating frequently or enough, anyhow 4 years ago I started feeling light headed when I bent down, couldn't get enough ice and then while shopping had to give a complete stranger my husband's business card because I thought for sure I was going to pass out. Terrified me. Our family doctor did blood work, that night at 11:30 the doctor called because the lab had called him. My hemoglobin was down to 61 I don't recall my ferritin levels but he told my husband I needed to get to a hospital right away. I had required 3 blood transfusions 2 times this happened, I ended up having a hysterectomy since I was 37 and done having my babies. This slowed my hemoglobin from dropping under 100 ( at less then 100 it is recommended that a transfusion be done) now every four or five months I go in for a 3 hour IV infusion of iron it may be two weeks in a row once it was 5 weeks in a row however that is because I didn't stay on top of getting blood work done.  No feeding tube, never even needed to see my surgeon or gastroenterologist. This can happen with these surgeries, I don't know why they take so long to show up but perhaps it is like so much more just getting older in a different kind of body. I just came from my IV therapy and it is truly not a big deal. Think if how long it most likely took for your hemoglobin to drop. try not to worry, they may want some tests done but the reality is the above is most likely how they will fix it.  All the best. My new email is [email protected] if you need anything.

The 5 day pouch is a good thing but I think I need something different, I don't know if others struggle with the same problem I have? It's not eating I am so guilty of this, I can go a few days without eating and I am fine but when I do eat I'm indulging in the wrong foods. So my pouch is working as it's meant to work but I think I'm not losing weight  because my body thinks its  starving. I need desperately to learn how to eat the right foods! This is all so easy to say but so very hard to do!

Wow you are depressed and need professional mental health care!  If you are poor, you qualify for Medicaid.  You can get upper and lower dentures and lose the shame about being seen in public.  You need real medical care so that you can take your vitamins and be well.

In 2003 if you cared to investigate, people knew they needed to supplement - we interested just knew and did.  Forget about the past and get yourself together.  Forget Blame!  Move on, live life.  If you were supposed to be dead, you would not be given the gift of breath.  Stop feeling sorry for yourself - think about backdoor blessings.  Like you have limbs, you have eye site, you have functional internal organs etc.

Pick yourself up so that you can help lift someone else.

Best,

L

Hello Cheryl, I had iron deficiency and had IV infusions for 6 months. I take a daily release iron that works all day long..Vitamin C, magnesium and rose hips help iron absorb easier...never take iron and calcium together, they cancel each other out.I also had Vitamin A deficiency and had weekly injections for 6 months that went to weekly, bi weekly to monthly then back to gel supplements. It's important to pop gels and cut hard supplements do they absorb better. I give myself a prescribed B12 injection monthly. I was taking gummy supplements and pro biotics and stopped after realizing the sugar grams. I am 12yrs post op... I highly recommend requesting IV iron to help with anemia...also having a hysterectomy helped end anemia issues completely! Best wishes!

So sorry your are having so many health problems.  Is there any way you can apply for SS disability or medicaid and then  you'll have insurance?  Good luck!  I wish you the best.

Glad to see I'm not alone. I'm 10 years out. Have gained 35lbs since retirement in 08. I too lost/forgot password for old account. I will start the low carb and see how it works for me. Appreciate you sharing.
