You are absolutely right. I can and do eat more when I consume the wine. I do believe that I've made it into a bad habit of decompressing and that there are other strategies that I can use. Thank you for the feedback.
Every Time I allow myself to have wine I gain weight. Not only I can eat more when I have wine, but having wine makes me more hungry so then I eat more. And my choices are not the best during that time... when then I decide to stop - not only I am better making good food choices - but I also can eat less, my restriction is much better.
How about you give up wine for a month and see if that helps. If you can't abstain from the wine for 2-3 weeks at a time - you know you have alcohol problem... and you better do something about that before it is too late, and 1-2 glasses turns into 1 bottle or more...
Maybe you can find new way to deal with the stress? i.e. getting a hot bath, herbal teas... meditation,yoga...?
counseling may help... Good luck..

It's awesome that you can allow that treat! I have learned recently that I'm not at that point, but maybe one of these days! Congratulations on all of your success!

I definitely agree with your numbers. After cutting back, I see the difference and it is making much better sense. I got lost in the world of 'I should be able to do this...' and not realizing that even after all this time, no, we can't. We never can and there always has to be moderation and consistency. Thank you!
Thank you for all the replies. Yes, I need to rethink my diet plan. Eating way to many carbs hence the reason I want to do the 5 day pouch test so I can decarb and start over again with my eating. I appreciate all the replies. I have lost 3 lbs since I have been going to the gym again. It am beginning the 2nd wk at the gym.

I know a lot of people are against the 5 day pouch test as a fad but I think it holds value if you use it to detox off the carbs. For me it was when I had my revision and in the hospital. Between the pain pills and horrible hospital food I was able to detox off the carbs and follow the program food plan I was given.
Because I had been so horribly undisciplined as far as eating goes I resolved to follow the post op plan to the letter, which I did until I got close to my goal weight, at which time I allowed myself some different things as I learned about maintenance. But by then I had lost my desire for the garbage I had been eating and was able to start to learn how to eat in a healthy way. I am still learning.
It has been over 5 years since I have eaten that way. It is easy now since it is my new normal and those things don't call to me anymore. But I am also aware because of my past history that it wouldn't take much to get back to the way I had been eating. For me there is no "just a taste of" things like cake and candy and other junk I used to eat constantly.
Fortunately I have a lot of choices and I feel completely satisfied with what I do eat and don't feel deprived at all. I think I would feel more deprived if I were to try to limit the amount of junk I ate because I know I would always want more. A little bit would never do it for me as far as those things go.
Like the old saying, one bite is too much and a thousand bites is not enough.

this post is exactly why I stopped in here today. I have gained back about 23 pounds and feel like crap over it. I am not a big meat fan so it easier to eat carbs.........yes I know bad move. I was second guessing if I need revision. I think I need rethinking. thanks for posting this and to the replies. I am close to 6 yrs out. I lost from before weight loss and after a total of 160. I have kept off almost 140 lbs.
Thanks LMyers. I have my food planned out and with me today. Yes I do think it just helps to talk about it and to know that we arent the only ones in this boat. Best wishes to you!
In the same boat as you. I had rny in August of 09. Started putting some weight back on this year. I started today with protein shakes. Going to concentrate on water intake and back to basic routine as I did right after surgery. I don't know the answer but it helps just talking about it. I will being sending positive thoughts and prayer for the both of us and anyone else that is getting back on the diet wagon....
Thank you for this response. This was really helpful and encouraging to me.
