Thank you LadyTazz,
I just recently sent out a similar post of regain. It helps to be reminded!
Hey all,
I am 5 years out and have regained about 35 pounds over the last couple of years. My size hasnt changed much in that I'm in the same pants size but I am noticing a difference in mood etc. Within the past couple of years my alcohol intake has increased to having about 1-2 glasses per night depending on my stress level. I'm aware that I'm exchanging one vice for another. I'm just needing some support. I'd like to get back down to my lowest for health reasons and am feeling very frustrated with myself.
11 years out and I usually eat approximately 1200-1400 calories daily. On the weekend, I may increase and then decrease during the week to keep balance.

Hi
Congratulations on your 100 lb WL. As far as a revision, you probably do not need one. Revising your diet will work for you. Remember this is a tool we have that helps us to diet when necessary like other folks. I had some problem with regain a few yrs ago (I'm 11 yrs out), and I removed all bad carbs from my diet and watched carefully. I ate protein, veggies and sugar free jello, didn't drink 1/2 before meals and 1/2 hour after, and I lost everything I gained plus.
Good luck and use this site for the support you need.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I do have a problem with refined carbs. I think maybe the 5 day pouch test would help me to get back on rack with my eating. Also, I do think I need to go for a scope to see what is going on.
While in the weight loss phase I tracked my eating and calories. After reaching goal I continued to keep track to help me learn what I needed to maintain.
Now I have no clue how many calories I take in. I just make sure I get in enough protein, at least 100 grams a day for me. I don't really watch the carbs but the kind of carbs, avoiding starchy things or refined, processed carbs. Carbs from dairy and things like fruits and vegetables I don't worry about, but I don't go crazy, either. I keep a mental count and if I have had something like potatoes or other high carb things, I limit my carbs for the rest of the day. Basically I might allow myself one food a day that isn't necessarily protein forward, like a gluten free bagel, but I make sure I get in all my protein and that is the only high carb thing for the day, if that makes sense.
As long as my first priority is getting in my protein the rest of the day seems to fall into place.

I can't answer your question about whether or not you need a revision. You need to see a WLS surgeon and have your current configuration examined to see if it is still intact.
If it is then you still have your tool. No matter which surgery you have there are some basic things you will always need to do if you want to lose weight and keep it off. Number one is to get rid of the refined carbs, junk food. No matter what surgery you have refined carbs, or simple carbs, are absorbed 100%, so even if you get a very malabsorptive procedure you will have to watch the carbs.
If that is your problem then that is the place to start. Clean out your house of all junk. You know what it is. If you have a family then they will need to support you. If they can't live without those things then ask that they not bring them around you so you won't be tempted.
Once you cut out the refined carbs and go through the detox period you will find it much easier to eat right and you most likely won't be hungry every 2 hours. Refined carbs do nothing for you nutritionally so it isn't surprising that you body wants to have nourishment so soon after eating.
The basic rules are protein first, dense protein like meat will fill you up better and keep you satisfied longer. Once you get in your protein you can have things like fruits, vegetables and other things in smaller amounts since you won't be as hungry.
Don't drink with meals or 30 minutes afterwards.
Aim for enough protein and fluids. My goal is 100 grams of protein and 100 oz of fluids a day.
Make the best of your tool and you will find yourself back where you want to be.
