is anybody here in their 20's having wls and over 350??? i feel like a freaking loser (and not the good kind) because i'm like 3f'ing90 and (sorry, no offense) it makes me sick to see people under under 250 and getting rny. makes me feel like i won't be as successful cuz i'm bigger, even tho in my heart i feel it all depends on how hard you work on your end regaurdless what type of surgery bcuz some very few people did it on their own and got to a real small size. if only i could be 250. i'm starting to feel like i'm too fat for rny to the point where i changed surgeons because that's how my old one made me feel. so, is anybody here really really heavy??? i feel very alone. any major success stories of people as big as me and get down to like 150??? i need some inspiration!!! :'(

I havent had surgery yet, but I was almost 400, and now I am down around 350, maybe up I have been a bad girl lately...if you browse my friends list I tend to relate and be inspired by people who were as big as I was before surgery and who are now down a considerable amount. You should think about it more, you may not get under 200 pounds but, will the 150 pound loss be fanatic for you? Of course...

Hi!  I will be three years out in January and was 393 at surgery.

Being larger we have alot more weight to lose and yes it will take longer than the "light weights" but I wouldn't change a thing.  I used to be saddened that in six months I had only lost x amount of weight and still was shopping at Lane Bryant where everyone else was already at the Gap.

Now, I know I couldn't become the person I am today without all of the trials, heartbreak and greatness I've been through :)

Now, goal weight.  How tall are you?  I'm 5'10 and have noticed the weight itself is different at various heights.  I have wanted to be 160ish ever since the beginning.  Right now I'm hovering at 210...  I would kill to see 199... but as long as I'm still toning and losing inches slowly, I'm going to appreciate the abilities of my body.

PM me if you want to, Sweetie.  I totally understand what you're saying.

Hey girlie!

I'm 24, and at surgery I was 415.  Not a great place to be when you're that young.. believe me I know!!!

but whatever kind of inspiration you need, I'll help out as much as I possibly can!

i know i'm a dude and all but i was 462 lbs. at my heaviest. being bigger just gives you more of an award in the long run. some poeple here hit goal in like 9 months or a year. it took me 23 months to hit goal. and i was consistently losing, but 270 lbs just doesnt fall off over night. you will do great i assure you. it's gonna take time, just be patient. it's a long, frustrating struggle, but in the long run it's worth it. and being 6'1" i think my 190ish is comparable to ur goal of 150ish. good luck, and hopefully me and some of the other responders gave you the inspiration you needed.

We all start this journey at a different place.   For me I was at 355.   I am 6 months out and over 120 pounds down.    I just keep remembering where I started and how quickly it is coming off.   I still have 50 pounds until I hit my surgeons goal, then ideally I would like to lose another 20 pounds.   One goal at a time though.

When I was preop I studied people's pages who had a BMI over 50.   There are a lot of motivating people on OH.     Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions. ~ Leslie

Hey Girlie,
No worries!! Everything will be okay. You will lose. I am actually 247 and I am only 5'2 24 years old. So the weight on me is alot for me. I have diebetis and PCOS. I have been trying to get pregnant for 4 years with my husband and have had no luck. I am hopefully going to have the surgery in Feb. And honestly I just want to be healthy. I have felt the same way as you.. I have felt like I wont lose or I wont lose enough, but I guess you just have to be optimistic. I think we all have our days. I dont like to leave my house.
But you will get through it chick!! Let me know if you need anything. Everyone has there own struggles, and it always seems like yours is the worst, but there is always someone out there struggling more.
Luvs ya,
Carmen  :)

HI,
I wasn't quite to 350 when I had my surgery, but I was close, 333lbs, at my highest. I'm thinking that alot of people with high BMI's have wls. Another thing is you might want to consider that alot of these people that have supposedly lower weights are shorter and may have the same BMI as you do.
Another thing I want to tell you is that I had been overweight my entire life, and I had no idea what a smaller weight looked or felt like. I just wanted to get as small as I possibly could, and thought that If I didn't reach this "perfect" weight then it really wouldn't be worth it.

I can't tell you how far from the truth that is. I am curently about 26 pounds away from my orginal goal, and still in the overweight category for my height, but I feel, and look so fantastic. I weigh 189-193 (I fluctuate) right now, and am so happy with it. So Yes I think you can reach your goal, but I also think that even if you don't get to some Perfect number you are going to find yourself much better off than you thought.

I was 368 at my highest, 353 surgery day and 20 yrs old.

I weigh like 170 now, but I didn't have RNY.  I have some photos and blog posts in my profile if you're interested.
